Off Topic Olympics

I wasn't making comparisons with the first Olympics but it was inevitable that point would be made. <laugh> I just think there's something inherently wrong about an unused sub picking up a gold medal. If you disagree then fine.

We seem to have picked up a bit in the medals. Murray on track, rowers did well. Hope that new kid beats Jessica Ennis but I can't see it.

What about unused subs in football cup final games? I mean where do you end it?

I don't because the BBC pundits have their heads up her arse, especially that Denise Lewis who is desperate for KJT to beat Ennis.

Plus that KTJ looks a miserable bugger where Ennis is always smiling regardless of her results.
 
I disagree. KJT was supporting and encouraging her Belgian opponent yesterday, smiling and applauding her during the high jump whilst Ennis flounced off down the tunnel. Also, Ennis's behaviour during the Ched Evans episode was disgraceful - something she's never apologised for. Don't like her and never will. Denise Lewis clearly agrees.

That said I suspect she'll win.

Technically he's still accused of rape. If found not guilty, maybe she'll apologise then?

He was convicted rapist, she has nothing to apologise for as she didn't want her name associated with the club if they continued using her name for a stand if he played for them. He is still a convicted rapist until his appeal is heard. And even if he's cleared she has nothing to apologise for! Perhaps you think the original jury should apologise, or that judge?

Let's not do this again. He is NOT a convicted rapist. He is an innocent man unless and until convicted because the earlier conviction was quashed.

Anyone can be accused of anything. The guy is guilty of nothing right now and she should have apologised to him even if she said that she stood by her comments as they pertained to his guilty status at that time. Do you seriously think she'll apologise if he's found not guilty? I seriously doubt it. She comes across as stuck up and full of herself to me. Wanting someone who has paid his debt to society wear sackcloth and ashes and have a ruined career fills me with disgust. Sorry but that's the way I feel about it.

Was chuffed when her name was taken off that poxy stand anyway as new sponsors came in. I'll be hoping that KJT wins it but I can't see it happening. Ennis is too strong in the remaining events and should take gold.

Think you dislike her so just see the bad in the slightest thing she does that doesn't meet your viewpoint. And let's be clear Evans is still waiting the appeal, he could still be convicted of raping someone. His name will always be tarnished because of what he did, and let's face it, it was pretty disgusting

"could be convicted".... means nothing even though it's accurate, because he could be acquitted too. I reiterate. He is NOT a convicted rapist at this moment. Innocent until proven guilty even though you may not like it.

Yet you are saying what actions she might take if he's not convicted again, so you are being hypocritical as you don't know what she'll do!

No I'm not a monk, but I'm a married man with kids, and if I remember rightly Evans ****ed this girl despite being in a relationship with someone else. So my sympathies with him is quite limited considering his actions.

You said "he's a convicted rapist" - you're wrong. But it does show that you've made up your mind about Evans, just like Ennis.

Evans doesn't need your sympathy or anyone else's right now. If he's convicted again then he won't deserve it. But if he's acquitted he's served 2 and a half years for something he didn't do and I would hope you'd then change your mind. If Ennis then apologises I'll reassess my take on her.

Back on topic, I hope that if it's a straight fight between Ennis and a non-Brit for the gold that Ennis wins. But I still don't like her. :emoticon-0110-tongu

Frankly I don't give a **** about Evans, I don't care if he's convicted or exonerated for rape. But shagging a pissed girl with your mates in the same room is a little disgusting, and that is what he's done. He has been convicted then released on appeal pending another trial for rape, this is not over for him.

If he's convicted again then I hope he's given more time to serve, it's not that I like or dislike him I don't know the man, but any rapist deserves to do time and shouldn't be let out for good behaviour behind bars, whatever the jail term should be served fully!

As for Ennis, she's only doing what she thinks, you have this perceived idea of her without actually knowing her, you say she is stuck up, and demand that she should apologise for something she did two years ago. In my opinion there is nothing at all to apologise for.

...and you're entitled to that opinion. Your perception of Evans is no different to my perception of Ennis in that neither of us know them. If you think that shagging a willing bird with your mates is 'disgusting' maybe you're living in the wrong era. Sounds a wheeze to me. If you mean it's disgusting because he was in a relationship I wouldn't argue with that. But it's not illegal per se.

Time served is a matter of law and not Evans's decision. If you don't like it petition your MP. <ok>

The thread is in danger of going off-topic so I've said all I'm going to on this. :)
