    But you're not gay lol

Agree about Lawrenson. He's like the annoying bloke behind you at matches, but in a well paid job for his 'insights'

    <laugh> Love it!

And you're dead right about the last three, for me Michael Johnson has been the pick of the bunch so far.

Have you seen the clip of the commentators watching the last few metres of Mo Farah's race - hilarious - Denise Lewis is making a noise so high pitched only dogs and bats could hear it.

USA 4-3 Canada - that's the best women's football match I've ever seen.

Have to say some of the tackling was a bit tasty in the second half, but the overall skill and finishing were wonderful.

It's going to be a hell of a final.

Just noticed a guy who was in 80% of my classes at school is running in the 200m this morning. James Ellington - small world!

Hear now the wise words of Boris...

On TeamGB's slow start to its home Olympic Games...

"I think we are showing great natural restraint and politeness as host nation in not hoarding all the medals so far."

On the rainy start to the Olympics in London...

"There are semi-naked women playing beach volleyball in the middle of the same Horse Guards Parade immortalised by Canaletto. They are glistening like wet otters and the water is splashing off the brims of the spectators’ sou’westers."

On the extra-curricular sexual activities in the London 2012 Olympic Village...

"Inspire a generation" is our motto. Not necessarily "Create a generation" ... which is what they sometimes get up to in the Olympic village.

    <laugh>

I still don't know what to make of Johnson, but I have to say that very few politicians could have survived being dangled, stranded, off a high wire in full view of the World's press with their reputation not only intact, but enhanced.

I'm certainly not going to try and better that description, Jimmy. <ok>

What a finish to the cycling - Chris Hoy's Mum was so funny - "Did he do it?"

Yes he did, and when you think he's beating men 10, 12, 15 years younger than him it makes his current form all the more remarkable.

Laura Trott was tremendous - the commentator was saying she only took up sport to improve her breathing when she had asthma and a collapsed lung! That worked then...a worthy successor to Dame VP.

Nicola Adams in the boxing. Sensational. Gold to come!

I was just watching a piece on BBC London News about the remote-controlled Minis that drive around the Olympic stadium picking up equipment etc. My heart was gladdened to hear that the coveted controller positions were awarded to local school children. That was until I saw and heard Noah and Byron from the London School for Boys and Sutton Grammar.

I think Woolwich Poly's invitation must have got lost in the post...

Dead right, Ponders - to beat a five times World Champion by that distance was astonishing.

Lawrence Clarke, truly gutsy performance in the 110m hurdles.

With the rapidity at which schools are selling off their playing fields and the continuing emphasis on non-competetive sporting activity in a large proportion of state schools, only the Tarquins and Jonty's of this World are going to actually be playing on grass by the end of this decade. The British class system is alive and kicking and in the rudest of rude health. Check the composition of the current administration for the confirmation of that.

Well, I've seen some strange things in sport, but picking coloured balls out of a bag to see who grabs whose leg and throwing a large foam rubber brick into the fighting area to register a protest - eh?

Freestyle Wrestling - first time I've seen it - amazing. <ok>

I thinks the public schools system fails not only because they have sod all to practice on but they do not allow competition and even fat kids get a prize for being fat. What we settle for in the public system is appeases the pie munchers and the can't be bothered. At least in private school they are told the value of competing and the desire to win and suceed albeit in sports that are slightly gay. Did you know it is cheaper to learn to sail in Sevenoaks than to join an organised football team. It's cheaper to go judo and also swimming than to play rugby, horse riding is a bit poncey but prices are not horrendous and you've always got something to eat should things go wrong.

we have the facilities but what we do lack in many cases is parents that can't be bothered. I hope this Olympics turns them around.

Great football final - USA one up, but being well outplayed by Japan - magnificent Wagnerian referee officiating, she should be wearing a breastplate and horned helmet and singing at Bayreuth.

Rudisha absolutely jaw-dropping in the 800m trashing the World Record in the process - wonderful display. <ok>

I went to the Quarter's on Monday

never ever heard that much noise anywhere compared to the 2000 odd Irish fans following Katie Taylor

I've since heard that Irish Bosses let their staff have longer lunches to watch her

This needs to be turned into a Kool Runnings/Billy Elliott style film NOW

Nicola Adams was amazing, what a gutsy peformance from someone who came from nowhere and worked her way up scrapping in fights. It was far more entertaining than the men's boxing and her smile says it all.

The Kish, the Olympic committee said that fight had the loudest atmosphere of the competition, louder than a jet engine. She's an amazing fighter, and came up against three different sets of tactics but blew them all away.

I timed my lunches to watch Katie fight in the quarterfinal and semifinal, but was too busy today and only watched the highlights tonight.

I think looking at the schedule for tomorrow, I'll have to choose between Barnes and Nevin tomorrow. I think I'll go for Barnes.

Saw the highlights of Nicola Adams tonight, and her interview with Gary Lineker. She looked top drawer too, and a great attitude. Sure to be an inspiration for kids in Yorkshire. Bringing women's boxing into the Olympics has been a great success I think.

Just had my first look at Taekwando - a bit like the Can-Can with concussion - Jade Jones was brilliant.

    Gold!

Loved the football - 80,000 spectators for a Women's match, tremendous. And just like the Women's boxing, Pat it was more skilful, fluent and entertaining than the men's equivalent.

And what else is there to say about Usain Bolt? Effortless grace and athleticism - a true master of his craft.
