It's only inspired me to watch more of it on TV Our Taekwondo no 1's have had mixed fortunes, Stevenson out but our man is through.
None of it is his fault. He will have to step up his game...perhaps that cagey first match will settle any nerves.
Yep it was a weird decision. Just got this off BBC. Aaron Cook was at the Excel to watch Britain's first taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones on Thursday but he will not be back today to watch Lutalo Muhammed, who was picked ahead of him. "I love this sport, and this is why I came to watch the event yesterday," Cook told BBC Radio 5 live. "I cannot bear to watch Lutalo Muhammad today, and I will be in tears if I do, as I will think that should have been me. "I have nothing against him, it is the selectors. If he wins gold, I will shake his hand. "I will never be able to draw a line under this. I can never move on from what the selectors have done to me. I can guarantee whoever wins gold, I will have beaten this year. I am extremely bitter about it." Who can blame him!
Appears to be a political decision because he opted out of the official training programme, but a change in weight categories was also mentioned as a reason.
The whole thing is just weird to me. If you have the world number 1 in a sport, why not pick him? It's like Jamaica leaving Usain Bolt at home.
Australia did it with Peter Norman for Munich 1972. He ran a National record or something in the qualification but he was never selected because he stood for Black Power at Mexico City 1968, even though he'd won the Silver. That national record has stood since. This is completely different though.
Typical of British committee-think. You can be best in world, but your face has to fit. I must say I thought that thinking had changed now.
My respect for Bolt has significantly reduced after he boasted that he was the best of all time. OK, everyone knows you're the fastest person in the world, but does he really need to be so arrogant about it. Moron. He really needs to learn the definition of modesty.
His arrogance was no secret. He could definitely beat both his 100 and 200m records if he put in 100%.
If I held two world and Olympic records and had just done the double-double. I would be incredibly smug.
I don't mind the press saying it, he deserves the praise by the press. I just which he could be more modest himself.
A Jamaican commentator said that Bolt isn't their favourite athelete because of personality. However, I bet they enjoy his success.
Apparently they can't do this anymore, because any money they make has to be spent on sports facilities.
Bugger just missed out on a sailing gold to the Aussies. Oh well I suppose their need is greater than ours
