Cork was ok tbh, Giggs and Bellamy were ****e, 4-3-3 didn't work at all.

I really despair when we have a man like pearce leading the squad. Why the hell did he select Giggs and Bellamy?

I went to Great Britain v New Zealand today at the Millennium Stadium. It was quite a good match, Britain played very well in bits and dominated at some points, albeit New Zealand were on top at some points. Britain won 1-0 and the goal was good, from a free-kick. An earlier free-kicked had curved like a banana but the keeper had saved it. The atmosphere was really good as well, everyone was really into it and there were lots of chants mostly "GB *clap clap clap* GB *clap clap clap* etc" and "Let's go GB *clap clap* GB Let's go". The ticket also covered the next match Brazil vs Cameroon and Brazil won 5-0 although the scoreline was a bit unfair on Cameroon as two of the goals were from set pieces (a free kick and penalty) which were given quite harshly (from Cameroon's point of view). Unfortunately quite a few people left for the second game so the atmosphere wasn't as good.

Also apparently Welsh people have good taste in music.

Do you think that could be why Wales is known as the Land of Song?

I like the Millenium Stadium as a cup venue much more than Wembley.

Everyone seems to have played a final at Wembley but only a small elite have played in an FA cup final in Cardiff!

Is the women's football more of a spectacle in the stadium than it is on the box? Can't say I enjoyed the GB match that much.

Lol they're playing Spice Girls at half-time between Honduras and Morocco.

With regards to the Welsh music comment, they played some great music over the tannoy: Daft Punk, KT Tunstall, Black Eyed Peas (I've gotta feeling), Maroon 5, etc

Well, ALL football is more of a spectactle in the stadium than on TV. I suppose on TV you wouldn't have felt the atmosphere which helps a lot.

Haha! I've only seen them once to be fair, and I think I was probably the only person in the crowd not related to, or a friend of, one of the players.

Great result, and performance, from Japan; they look a real handful. Spain looked well off the pace and I imagine GB will too. I think many sides will suffer from the pre-season lack of fitness.

Judging by the BBC's report of the team, it looks like Pearce has learnt very little from the defeat against Brazil. Butland and Caulker in and the rest of the team is the same! I think the likes of Cork and Sinclair can consider themselves unlucky not to start if that projected team is accurate.

Agree with the above, the one thing you'll get from Japan is work rate, unbelievable running from some of there players. Again, I thought Cork was very composed against Brazil and kept GB in possession of the ball, whereas I thought Cleverly was sloppy in play and clearly hasn't got back to his best since his injury. But, I wouldn't be surprised if they picked players on club merit. Could you imagine peoples reaction if Cork started? 'Is this best we got, blah blah blah'...

This UAE v Uruguay game is great, fast attacking football. UAE have a couple of decent players, one of them no.15 is tricky boy, skinning players for fun.... oh and its 1-0 UAE. Brilliant.

Omar Abdulrahman thats no.15. Just played an outrageous pass for the first goal, only 20yrs old. If he can consistently play like this, he might find some interest from some clubs abroad.

Incredible. I think one of the few performances that was worthy of comment, against Brazil, was Cork's when he came on. If you listen to Jonathan Pearce's commentary, he barely stops talking about him in a favourable light for about ten minutes, and with good reason too.

Talking of national anthems, they played two verses yesterday. No-one knew the words to the second verse, it was quite awkward lol.

Edit: I've just looked it up, the second verse is actually pretty awesome:

    O lord God arise,
    Scatter our enemies,
    And make them fall!
    Confound their knavish tricks,
    Confuse their politics,
On you our hopes we fix,
    God save the Queen!

God Save the Queen isn't the Welsh anthem, I don't blame them for not singing it. :p

I'm watching this purely to see how Butland gets on. <laugh>
