45000 Metric tonnes of Rice were consumed in New Zealand last year - how much of that rice was picked in New Zealand?

Australia’s food imports from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries grew by 28% in 2010-11. The increase was mainly contributed by the increased non-alcoholic beverage imports.

We produce far too much compared to what we need and what we export - could do with less farms tbh!

Stark truth - we don't need a million migrants to pick 20 million tonnes of food that we don't need!!

 

It actually costs 13 billion of which 5 billion is spent in the public sector in the UK. So for a net spend of 8 billion we gain access to the worlds largest single market where we currently export 240 billion pounds. Seems like an ok deal to me.
