How can it have no effect on the economy,in 2014 with the price high it put over 6 billion into the UK economy,in 2016,there was a loss of £396 million which is offset against profits,so comes out of the UK economy. So nearly 6.4 billion less going into the economy in 2016.The price of the oil quoted was for brent crude our oil.

So the labour leader as we know doesn't like Jews and now it seems he's sexist,if they ever get in,will being racist be compulsory.

He is also a downright liar. Watch the vid of him not calling May a stupid woman. He must think we are all as stupid as he is.

I have no idea what you're referring to. I don't know your source, so don't know if you're quoting out of context or whatever. £6.4 billion from where, for instance?

Think the discussion is getting side tracked, but an official tax paid to the UK government in 2012-13 was £6.5 billion and in 2008-9 £11.5 billion,by the oil industry,in 2016 it was a loss of £396 million, the point being, oil is no longer a massive revenue earner, and not worth that much to the economy.
Scotlands oil revenue £10.9 billion less than predicted. Is one of many good links and shows that the SNP vastly over estimated income, trying to get independance, and had it happened, would have had a massive black hole.

I found a link fromvthe BBC that in some ways supports your assertion, but they're only talking about tax paid on oil industry profits, as far as I can see. This is paltry compared to he revenue from duty, and to a lesser extent, VAT. Again, I think you're misinterpreting what you're reading.

But you're right, it's a specific sidetrack, whatever the reality of it is. You've already given up on the GDP v Deficit discussion, and you can blame your tory chums for that one, so we can draw a line under this now. I'm sure you've got lots of Brexit stuff to recycle. :D

I vote on principle, not personality. Otherwise not one of them would be worthy of my vote. They're all the same.

So do I and that's why I would never vote for a man who goes to IRA fundraisers.

But that's a person, not a principle. You vote for his party principles, not his foibles.

Using your approach, voting for any tory is an endorsement of shirt-lifting, arrogant, bullying bastarts. :)

That's the way it should be WJ and as one who's always made the time and effort to vote surprised myself on one occasion. I was standing pencil in hand and thought none are worthy of this vote and so abstained. It felt wrong at the time for some strange reason but as the years have passed I've realised I was quite right.

It's not got any better has it ?

I don't. If I had to vote for his party, I'd be voting not for him, but the local party representative. Or his party's manifesto if the candidate wasn't up to scratch.

I can tell you now though that I will never, ever vote tory. Ever. Time after time in the 42 years I've been able to vote, they have consistently managed to disappoint me. And often managed to surprise cynical old me, but sadly never been in a good way.

My only disappointment is that no-one stands locally for the Monster Raving Loony Party. Any party that suggests the introduction of the 99p coin has their hands firmly gripped on reality. I can't begin to tell you how serious I am about this.

Well you could say,Corbyn doesn't represent the party,he's a dictatorship who only got 40 votes in his no confidence vote.

Interestingly or not. Especially, for someone who studied politics, I never vote. Largely for the reason you described. Its an emotive subject for some and I have received much vilification from angry people telling me it’s my duty and I have no right to an opinion if I haven’t voted. Hey maybe they’re right. Like I give a sh*t.

Well, one of the reasons the EU doesn't want us to leave has had its ugly head raised.

EU bullies at it again, trying to cover up the cracks with a plaster.

Theresa May trying to save herself by scraping the barrel with 3 options offered.
Both the UK and the EU have left her hanging herself, and she's very lonely out on that limb.

Italy stands up to the EU and tells'em to eff off.

Belgium PM resigns over the Immigration pact, riots are spreading around Europe.

So what do they call all the Muslims on benefits, skilled labour.....probably, skilled at feeding off the working tax payers.

Keep an eye on this Sajid Javid, very slimy. He who would be PM cannot be trusted.

Stumbled on this. Haven't had time to watch it yet, but reckon it may be quite profound, given who's presenting it. Apologies in advance if I've slung you a duffer ...
