I say yes to all of them. But I won’t be debating with you I can’t be arsed.

Edited to add: because it’s Christmas not because it’s you, in case that sounded a trifle rude.

And in a democracy, they support economic policies (amongst others), it is their preference for particular economic polices. That marks them as "left" or "right" wing.

Like saying judges are the problem in courts
Or doctors are the problem in hospitals
Or plumbers are the problem when you need a plumbing problem fixed.

Politicians absolutely care what you think, because they owe their jobs to you
Do we need stronger rules regarding lobbying ? Probably yes, but more so we need visibility regarding lobbyists/politicians relationship
And most important, we need more visibility with regard to donors, especially in the US.

Did the British people surrender in 1940 ?
What about 1982 ? Tony Blair lost in a by-election on a peace platform, while Margaret Thatcher's deeply unpopular government's popularity soared.

    Really ?
What's your source on that - other than your personal opinion ?
    Please cite an actual source.

Then how do you account for his lack of popularity now - not just amongst Democrats, but amongst Republican - who showed in recent polls that Ron DeSantis holds a 20 point lead over Trump - DeSantis is a career politician.

And please tell us, what your source(s) is/are, that you base your opinions of US politics ?
Have you ever lived in the USA ?

But do you think Trump won the 2020 election and had it stolen from him ?

And of the above, which statements do you disagree with (if any) ?

    Sanity prevails in Arizona:

"An Arizona judge has ruled to toss out Kari Lake’s election fraud lawsuit, alleging that problems with printers and election day protocol cost her a victory.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson issued the edict Saturday, after two days of hearings last week.

The jurist determined that, following the proceedings, Lake, 53, had not provided sufficient evidence to show that foul play played a role in her loss to Democrat Katie Hobbs.

The current UK Conservative government is further 'left' than Blaire's Labour was. The Tories are not right wing any more. Labour are only considered on the left because they're backed by the Unions. Corbyn tried to turn them further left and got nowhere. It's very muddy water now.

Politicians are the problem. Historically many of our MPs were drawn from the working population. That no longer happens, Politicians go to University to study politics. They have little to no experience of how a normal working person lives their life. We do attract the richest (Sunak) and lawyers (Starmer) into politics but a bus driver has little to no chance of becoming an MP.

Wouldn't you target the soft drinks industry, the junk food industry and the fast food industry for the obesity epidemic?
Wouldn't you force the biggest corporations to pay their fair share of tax and close down the tax havens around the world?
Would you ask why we have to spend billions on weapons of mass destruction?
Topically, wouldn't you reopen our coal fired power stations so people can heat their homes?

That's just off the top of my head but none of it happens because of Politicians.

So you would vote to invade another country? Really? Then again, you are American who have done it more than any other country, even the UK because we are your bitch.
The British responded to a country being invaded. If the German people had a free vote do you think that they would have voted to invade another country? I think they followed a madman because they were brainwashed with his propaganda and were terrified of what would happen to them if they didn't conform.

You seriously don't realise how much of a warmonger the USA is? You have to be so that the defence contractors can make their billions in profit.
Google it but to get you started: WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Kosovo, Bosnia........
There's loads more. You lot are always at war

I hope the Republicans nominate De Santis but in America isn't it about the amount of money you have not how popular you are? Proper politics. As has been said before, in a country of over 300m people the best you can find in the last 8 years is Trump, Hillary and Biden. Your country is a mess.
So is ours, I realise that.

I didn't mention the 2020 election. My views on America don't require me to have lived there. I live in the UK but I can only guess what people think in other parts of this country. You can only guess what a factory worker in Alabama thinks about politics, the same as me.

The statements are all ideas that the msm has brainwashed you with. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you agreed with all of them.

There's a big wide world out there if you dig into the headlines. What MSNBC tell you is very rarely the actual truth but there's so much more that they don't tell you.
Fox news is the balance of MSNBC. I watch very little of either any more because their coverage is polarised. You can get news from many other places and I think I'm sensible enough to differentiate the wheat from the chaff.

    Merry Christmas though.

What policies does the current Conservative government have that are to the "left" of Tony Blair's government ?
The current Labour government is considered "left wing" because of the policies it supports, not by the source of their income.

However, the point I'm making is that all British governments, since WWII, are to the left of the US Democrat party, at any time.

Go on then, which past British politicians, were drawn from the "working population", as you put it ?
Obviously you discount wealthy people and lawyers.

If by "attack", you mean tax them so their products become too expensive for their customers to buy them, then no.

Yes, and by and large they are - by both right and left wing governments. However those MNE's (multi-national enterprises) are frequently offered tax breaks by governments, in order to set up their business there.

What would be your plan to "close down" global "tax havens" ?

No, because it's obvious why we do.

No, for several reasons. Coal is too expensive and too dirty to use as a fossil fuel.
(Btw, if you were to re-open coal powered power stations, how long do you think it would take before they produce a significant amount of electrical power ? Where would the coal come from ?)

We need more oil/gas fueled power stations, or at least more capacity

There's also been a breakthrough in nuclear fusion, that might dramatically alter power sourcing:
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/science...t-harness-nuclear-fusion-announced-TODAY.html

Yes it does, and it's because of politicians
    Brexit was engineered by politicians
The Falkland's War was conducted by politicians
The privatization of Britain mind numbingly large public sector was organized by politicians
Where in the world do you think things actually get done, if not in the UK ?

Yes, like Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, in WWII, or Kuwait in the Gulf War 1990-91
    No, like Iraq, Afghanistan

Are you surprised that previously neutral Sweden (and Finland) have joined NATO because if it ?
Did you support the Gulf War 1990-91 ?
How about the Falklands War ? (if you were even alive then)

Why do you think (wrongly) that I'm an American ? I just live in the USA
And what, other than your biased opinion, makes you think that the USA has invaded more countries than the UK - or are you speaking about post-WWII only ?

So you support the maintenance of armed forces, and weapons/ships/planes etc

And no, the British people decided to fight on in 1940 and risk invasion...and that was mostly down to one man - Winston Churchill. If, upon taking office as PM, he'd agreed a peace with Germany, he'd have taken the whole country with him. But he was never going to do that.
Would you have supported Churchill in 1940 had you been alive then ?

How about in 1982, would you have supported Thatcher's government or the peace policies of the then Labour opposition ?

Yes, there was great popular support for war in 1939 Germany (just as there was in 1914 Germany)
Just like there was great popular support, in Italy, for Mussolini
Or popular support for Hirohito, in Japan

In the latter half of the 20th Century, a British soldier was killed on active service every year except 1966

WWII, the USA joined the war over two years after the UK did.
Korea, was a UN authorized operation, and Britain was part of it
    Ditto the Gulf War 1990-91
Britain was also present in the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, in the 21st century

    How about the Falklands War
    The invasion of Egypt 1956
    Cyprus war of independence
    The Mau-mau in Kenya
    Borneo
    Oman
    Aden
Britain troops invaded Bosnia and Kosovo
The Sierra Leone Civil War (1991–2002)
    Libyan civil war (2011)
The "Troubles" in Ulster (1968-1998) ?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars_involving_the_United_Kingdom

During the Imperial age, there were many, many wars, that Britain entered into.
So climb off your cross and quit your "holier-than-thou" attitude.

Why on Earth would you wish DeSantis on the American people ?
He has no policies (and he's a career politician Btw)
What has he done for the people of Florida during his time as governor ?
Before that, what did he achieve during his time as a US Congressman ?

You really come across as someone completely ignorant about US politics.

    No s**t
You ignorance about US politics amply shows that.

Then watch some current affairs programming
    Read some broad sheet newspapers
    Read some opinion polls
    You know, educate yourself.

Nope. I can watch/listen to current affairs shows, pay attention to news reports/polls from Alabama - a staunch "Red" state Btw.
Your approach is to just stick your head in the sand and rely on personal/bigoted opinion.

I think you mean MSNBC, and what "ideas" are those ?
When was the last time you watched US television news ? (If recent, can you name the channel, the show, what it was about ?)

"Brain washing" LMAO - and this from the kid who says "My views on America don't require me to have lived there."
Why would you need first hand experience, when you have bigoted opinion ?

    Of which you know nothing
Tell me, do you feel you know enough about Japan or Russia to form more opinion, without the need to ever visit those countries ?
    Your hubris, knows no bounds....

Go on then, please cite some news reports, from MSNBC that don't contain the actual truth

Out of interest, what news channels do you trust ?

    HaHaHaHa
    ROTFLMAO

Fox "News" is a bad joke in the news/current affairs industry.
It's being sued for $1.5 BILLION for spreading election lies about the 2020 election. Specifically by Dominion who made the voting machines
Fox "News" anchorman Sean Hannity, was a prime figure in election denial...yet after when he was put in the witness box under oath; surprise surprise, he threw the corporation under the bus say he never believed Trump's election lies anyway.

I think it's hilarious that you speak of "brainwashing", then in the next breath, you champion Fox "News".

People don't like you because you're a dick. It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
It's either deliberate or you don't actually realise that you're a dick.
Either way you're definitely not worth talking to.

No, people don't like you because you're a dick
You try to bully the board with your long post, so full of BS opinion. Then the moment someone stands up to you and calls out your BS for what it is, you run a mile.

So I should go around telling everyone that they're a "dick" ?
Popular at school were you ?

    In your case it's deliberate
Sadly there are many on this board, that are so wedded to their BS opinions like you, that the moment you challenge them, they drop all pretense at debate and descend straight into a diatribe of insult, abuse and slander.

Face it, you know next to nothing about politics, and when confronted, you resort to the only tool you have - personal abuse
It's you who is not worth talking to - all you have is your vitriol and worthless opinion.
