I don't think anyone knows if he had taken us as far as he could. Given the circumstances at the Club, it seems to me he did a very decent job overall. To replace him with McClaren looks most likely to be yet another balls up of a managerial decision from TF to me. I hope not.
Wow, whatever our differing opinions about Ian and his stints at out club, I have to say I'm glad he got another chance. He bleeds blue and white and most of all cares. Many thanks Ian and I wish you all the best for the future U R's
Gotta to agree with this also my sentiments. IMO Holloway was always a bit of an unsung hero in his playing days worked his socks off for all his teammates and never got the full praise for his efforts and didn't really look for it, just did his job. I get the feeling he is the same in his management role, of course, only time will tell but I just get the feeling that he has done a better job than we realize.
"It has been a privilege and honour to have been QPR manager not once but twice, for over 300 matches. "I am bitterly disappointed to have been asked to leave the club, but I proudly believe it is in a better place than when I arrived. "I'm sure the club will go on from strength to strength and I thank the fans for their wonderful passion and the support they gave me and my team. "I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure and wish the club all the very best for the future. "Come on you Rs!" Ollie. Very dignified and displays he really does love the club. Thanks Ollie............... I wasn't your greatest supporter but l did appreciate your desire to help the club forward with no budget.
ollie was a managerial genius and he proved that by what he achieved with not only no budget, but also the fact that he had to tell all his best players that we couldnt afford his wages but what was the real reason for ollie leaving there are a few who know the truth but its not being put all over the press but most probabley ollies life was being affected by the pressure so much that he has asked to be sacked but I WILL ALWAYS LOVE OLLIE HES MY OLLIE HES QUIRKY CRAZY INSANE HES NAPOLEAN BONAPARTE ALWAYS BRAVELY GOING FORWARD WITH HIS MAD CAP IDEAS ILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU OLLIE I HOPE YOU AND YOUR AMAZING WIFE AND FAMILY HAVE A WONDERFULL YEAR BUT START BY HAVEING A SIX WEEK VACATION IN SOME EXOTIC COUNTRY DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
Yes, Ollie did a good job in stopping the decline, I have no doubt we would have ended up being relegated again, getting rid of the last of the Hughes/Redknapp hangers-on and bringing on the youngsters but I do think we needed a change in order to progress. At least with McClaren we will go into matches with more of a tactical game plan then just kick it towards Smith and see what happens.
That last comment is very unfair on Ollie who got us playing with far more tactical variety than that, even later on this last season with Smith up front. I agree more with the criticism of Ollie that he changed players, tactics and formations too often, including during the course of games.
I think the bottom line was that we had to move on from Ollie if the club was to move forward. He tinkered just a tad too much and too often with the team selections.
