Despite his performance there will be no criticism of Oliver from anywhere official. It is about time the head of the referees, Mr Riley was allowed or had the balls and come out and say performances like this are inept and unacceptable in the professional world of refereeing.

His reward for a "disgusting" decision against Stoke - to officiate the Manchester derby.

Were Riley and Webb merely paying lip service to Garry on Friday?

Taff well tdays performance and others this season shows he is struggling. Always thought of him as a tidy ref, but far to many errors creeping in to his performances.

Didn't think of that Taff. You're right. The authorities effectively agree with Monk that Oliver got that decision wrong and yet they give him one of the marquee games of the season. Pathetic.

The problem with a early red card is you got to kill someone in order to have calls against a ""ten man team"""

Tlf - I agree, I always thought that he was a decent ref, but he seems to have taken a step or two backwards this season. <cheers>

Just watching the Villa v Spurs game and where refs get a bad name I have to say the antics of the Villa players is absolutely disgusting. Westwood sprinted at the referee in an attempt to get Vertongen sent off and Weiman is a disgrace how he is on the pitch. he has been in the refs face and can clearly see him swearing at him. Swarbrick to be fair has had a good game.

It looked like Joe Hart headbutted the ref in the Manc derby today when he ran into his face ranting away.

To be honest, I'm not sure that there was contact - as I wrote earlier, the photos do not look good. If there was contact, I can't see how Oliver would not have sent him off.

Even if there was no contact, Hart was out of order in putting his head in such close proximity of the referee.

He's crossed the line and imo should receive a ban for this. I'd go as far as saying that that's intimidating the official. But, being England's number 1, he'll get away with it.
