I always felt she ripped off the Cocteau twins, a little bit. It's all good though. Hope you like this, Lapras. My apologies if you are a fan already!
Tbh, that doesn't sound much like Enya IMO. Enya rarely uses drums I think for example, especially those kind of drums.
Fair point Lapras, I was talking about the vocal style, intonations of Elisabeth Fraser being similar really, which I should have made clearer. Anyway, if Ole is now 6/4 it's still up in the air, IMO, bookies fishing for cash probably. If he was a cert, they'd have stopped taking bets by now. Apart from silly ones like mine.
Enya She should be banished - the ultimate in banality. Isn't she the singer who never performs live?
Pompeymeowth Never quite sure about Minimalism. Some of Glass's music is okay but of this style of music, I have been more impressed with Steve Reich which can be very interesting. There are other composers like John Adams who have impressed from time to time although I must admit to being a fan of some of Gavin Bryar's work which is similar in some respects. He is probably most reknown on this board for the notorious "Portsmouth Symphonia" although there are records he has made with guitarist Bill Frisell that I very much like. Listen with curiousity to the Youtube clip you have posted. Back in the 80's, I quite liked Annette Peacock's music but her records were almost impossible to get hold of. She was originally associated with the jazz avant garde of the late 60's and was married in succession to Gary Peacock and Paul Bley who still performs her compositions on hisown records. "I have no feeling" is a great Annette Peacock album and always loved the track "The carousel." Not a great deal of choice of tracks from Youtube but this was a recent discovery that has impressed. Enjoy:-
Here is an even better Annette Peacock track (Something of an AP standard):-
Thanks IT. I absolutely loved the first track, the second is not so much my type of thing really. Back in the Eighties, the Cocteaus, Cure and Bunnymen type bands, took up most of my time so I missed a lot of other stuff that was going on. Music is so laughably easy to get into these days, it was all word of mouth, or the NME back then. But, you know, I kinda enjoyed those days, when you found some music you really liked, it was a real find.
