Doesn't matter individually; Sturridge and Suarez have been the perfect pairing.

You're just going on names, like Drogs said SAS have been perfect pairing for our team

People need to realise that names dont make a team <ok>

And for your info, Sturridges finishing is absolutely brilliant

The form pairing this season is obviously suarez and Sturridge. I would still go for rooney and van Persie though. Proven year on year after all.

Big scorers. Not big game players... yet. Let's see how they go next season playin g Dortmund Wednesday, City Sunday etc...

I think they will deliver in big games in the future. Battering Norwich on a Wednesday is easy

Oh dear. Novice manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only gone and dropped his team in it ahead of the visit of Liverpool to Cardiff – providing the perfect inspiration for the Reds’ star forwards Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

The Cardiff boss says he would rather have Manchester United duo Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney than Liverpool duo Suarez and Sturridge. Brendan Rodgers’ pre-match team talk has been done for him.

For those wondering, Suarez and Sturridge have 43 Premier League goals between them this campaign, the top two in the league, while Rooney and van Persie have 22 goals between them – less than Suarez has on his own.

Not to mention that United’s duo are much older and both past the peak of their careers, whereas as Sturridge, 24, and Suarez, 27, have plenty of years and development ahead of them. If I were a chairman I’d want my manager to prefer the younger and more in-form duo that’s for certain!

It’s strange too that any manager would opt for a pairing who have shown a clear lack of cohesion when playing together all season, and where one said of the other ‘Our fellow players are sometimes occupying the spaces I want to play in.’

Second bottom versus second top was always going to be tough for Cardiff but Solskjaer has made it even harder by getting Liverpool’s tactics completely wrong too.

‘I would say Liverpool might be one of the best counter-attacking teams in Europe at the moment,’ the former Man Untied forward praised.

‘Direct, counter-attacking football, with quick pace, and every opportunity the ball goes in behind,’ he claims, clearing having not watched very closely this season.

Yes, Liverpool are effective on the counter due to the pace of Suarez, Sturridge and Raheem Sterling, aligned with midfield vision of Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho, but to say they are simply a counter-attacking team is far from accurate.

Liverpool still possess the ball as required, they just don’t possess the ball without purpose and look to exploit the opponents much faster. Something they will no doubt be looking to do when they arrive in Cardiff on Saturday. Solskjaer is in for a surprise, Liverpool are much more than just a counter-attacking side.

Good luck Ole, you’re going to need it!

I cant actually find a quote of Solskjaer saying he prefers Utds front pair

    Is this more twitter bollocks?

Being ex-united he's gonna throw that bone of support out there but I wouldn't think that he really means it.

Van Persie is still a much better player than Suarez, and that's because he is the difference maker in big games, how many big games has Suarez been the difference in this season or last?

Has anyone ever seen Suarez take a penalty, he is like a rabbit in headlights when asked to score from 12 yards, which just highlights how poor his temperament and composure is, which would explain his inability to deliver in the big matches:biggrin:

Suarez has made a huge difference in nearly every game this season his consistency is what has set him apart.

He played well against all other than Chelsea, it's not always about goals, we can't go to Suarez everytime we need a goal the overall performance and result is what matters.

Only last year, this year they are not, so 1 year? You do talk some RUBBISH lad<laugh>

Not sure but would it be true that since Studge arrived at Liverpool that he and Suarez have scored more goals than Rooney and RvP?

Sturridge hasn't proved himself yet, this is his first proper season playing week in, week out.

I'm leaving this argument there it's all a bit like saying Messi is crap because he hasn't won the World Cup and doesn't score enough headers. Later fellas.

So playing in the top league, scoring in almost every game you play for 5-6 months and scoring some screamers too, being top 5 scorers in Europe and part of the league's most prolific partnership, by a mile, that's not proving yourself?

He has definitely proven he can do it, he IS doing it while you and UIR sit on your arses in rancid bedrooms still living at your mums telling us all he has to prove himself. <doh>
