Going back to rockers one of my favourite live bands of the early 70s were Nazareth, any other 'Nazareens'?...
I first saw them live opening for Deep Purple at Brixton in 1972, one of the best night's rock I have been to. Dan McCafferty's vocals were sensational, truly great rock voice...
A very much underrated band, Soops. They seem to have influenced many other bands that have gone onto superstardom, such as Buns N' Toasties, without ever themselves receiving the success they deserve.
Sadly McCafferty was recently forced to retire after two heart attacks. He has a true rock and roll throat..
Quo were another much maligned band who were always great value live. It was around that time (71-72)when I had one of their early albums 'Dog of Two Heads' which was actually an excellent record with not every track being a headbanger...
Just bought Staus Quo Frantic Four reunion blu ray. It was filmed at wembley arena march 2013. It is very much worth of watching and listening.
Good one Igor. The one and only Brian Johnson. Story is that Bon Scott sort of picked his successor as he was a big fan after seeing Geordie live and saw Brian Johnson as a very similar vocalist.
One of my top 10 all time songs, from 1976, a truly progressive rock classic. Recorded live 2009, the old timers can still rock, amazing performance and fantastic vocals.
Kansas and the powerful Carry On You Wayward Son also brings great music memories from the 70's. They also made this beatiful classic. I remember listening this song with female company after hours
Just seen 'The Chemical Brothers-Dont Think', on Sky Arts. One of their stadium gigs filmed in Japan. Great music and awesome visuals. Does that now count as old school ?? Proper electronic music for the chemical generation !!!
