Should really put this sort of stuff in Beefy, but I'm pretty certain this will be of interest.

EDIT: There is talk of Southampton CC making some space available for a railway station to be built outside of South Western House, and an obvious dropping off point for visiting fans and out of town Saints supporters.

Im always on the look out for pictures regarding Southampton and The Saints as Im extending my gaff and need some space fillers, so cheers

The old pier has been a wreckage for many years due to a fire, but plans are afoot to get the seafront revamped. Hopefully, by the end of it, the most notable thing will be some shiny new and interesting structures rather than the big blue building with IKEA written in yellow on it. Until then, every yachtie and ship borne tourist knows where to buy a POÄNG chair.
 
Personally, I'd rather see the waterfront & docks alive with industry, cruise & container ships giving people jobs than having a nice boardwalk with 120 coffee shops along it.

Southampton is what it is, an industrial city with a soul.

By the sounds of it, Portsmouth will soon have more land freed up in the port to have nice places for resturants... and personally I think that's pretty sad state of affairs regarding the shipbuilding announcement.
 
Very sad about the dockyards in Portsmouth. My grandfather and father worked there at one time or another. There's talk of commercial ship building...hope that comes off. This favouring of the Scots is similar to the aid given to Liverpool to take cruise liner business away from Southampton.

No chance of commercial vessels of any size being built in Pompey or anywhere in the UK. It's why the Royal Navy orders were the only thing keeping any of the shipyards going because it would be political suicide to place those orders outside the country.

Has also been overlooked in the press that quite a few ex-vospers lads from when they were based at Woolston have lost their jobs as well, so Southampton was hit too.
