Well, it's not always easy to see all that's going on on a tv screen, especially when you're at the mercy of the director and with limited camera views, so a commentary can be useful. It's just that it descends into a cacophony of mindless waffle between them - they sound like drunken teenagers.
In the Utd game at the weekend Fletcher kept banging on about something and completely missed the second yellow and red being handed out to the Utd player near the end.
They obviously love the sound of their own voices and think everyone does too.

to be fair, with tv commentary I’m not sure exactly what else you want? On radio, they are obviously describing what is happening because you can’t see, but on tv everyone can see when alisson rolls it out to vvd who passes square to Konate who goes inside to Mac etc… if it’s just them describing exactly what is happening on the pitch then it’s totally pointless.

I agree it should be an option to mute commentary, and I think Amazon actually have that feature allowing you to just hear the crowd.

They can name the players for a start, because it isn't always immediately obvious on a screen and there are plenty of players I'm unfamiliar with. They can give a basic description of the action and pass on some of the info that they're given and we're not.
They could do away with the co-commentator, so they have no-one to bounce their rubbish off. Save some money too.
Talking of which, do many people really watch 4 pundits dissect a game for an hour or more afterwards?

You're right, Prime does offer a no-commentary option - but, as I've said, I think some basic info being passed on isn't a bad thing. It's just all the laddish gibberish that spoils the experience for me.

Anything important gets replayed anyway so you'd still see anything worthwhile
 
Another home game to Burnley on Saturday 17th January. Burnley is fighting relegation and must not be underestimated.
Burnley is second from the bottom of the table.
This is a game we have to win if we are seriously contending for top four finish at the end of the season.
Referee is yet to be appointed for this game.
