He coaches them like they are u8’s - literally never stops telling them what to do, where to be. Very unlikeable guy

which is funny as generwlly the tactic is, get it wide to Saka, get him to run at the left back and run a corner or free kick. Then cross to Gabriel and hope he scores.

All things considered we can be proud of that tonight.

Arsenal are the Atletico of the premier league, they are ****ing disgusting and I simply can’t wish them luck - hope city catch them again to be quite honest
It hurts to want City to win yet again, but I have to agree. I really have a dislike for Arteta, and a team reflects its manager in that way. Mean-spirited and nasty.

Be nice if Slot came out and called Martinelli out for the rest he is at the end there.

Keane right... Not first time Arteta is a coward and went for draw when he's not just dominating a team
They were like that from the off at Anfield. I thought they'd have more about them this time - they did for a while, but withdrew into their shell when it wasn't happening for them.

Arsenal are a very good side in possession though, not many trams come and keep the ball so still think was encouraging. In first half we played around them really nicely, get either of those pens and suddenly have something to defend.

Good to see us improve in 2nd half, much more reminiscent of last season where slot make a few tactical tweaks and made us into a better team.

Didn't say they weren't. But we're reigning champions and have extremely good players, we packed the midfield and had no outlet. I'd expect us to dominate possession but struggle to score.

Very good point still though <ok>

Join with me then, and say it'll be fine.
If there's one thing age brings - apart from constipation - it's experience. I have enough to realise nothing I say on here has the slightest impact on reality, so a bit of optimism won't hurt.

In reality I think it'll be a tough game, but sometimes we play better when we seem to be up against it. I have no idea how this game will turn out, but I won't really be surprised at any result.
Said this yesterday.
I just hope it's a springboard to better things and not just a case of raising your game for the big one.
Still, have to say it's funny reading all the comments stating with such certainty that we would get tonked. Seems some people never learn how unpredictable football can be.

We could all be right if we all just claim that any result could happen :bandit:

I thought we’d lose, and if Arsenal had got 1 early doors then I think would have been by 2 or 3 easily but have to give credit to whole team. Defended well then actually played properly 2nd half.

We generally did what teams do to us though and it does show that with bit of coaching it’s not hard to sit back and defend with 10 men behind the ball and restrict gaps for teams to create and it shows why we do struggle when teams do it to us.

Be a totally different game v Burnley in a week so team need to pass quicker, but it keeps the unbeaten run going, clean sheet for confidence in a game where never really threatened (not like clean sheet v psg a year ago) is a lot to build on.

We would, because it's true.

.
I really despise the fact that we're in a place in football where people are trying to justify Martinelli's actions by saying that he thought Bradley was play acting.

It doesn't make a difference as far as his actions are concerned.

Bradley didn't help the situation by trying to slide back over so he was fully on the pitch. If you're injured, you're injured. Just shows he puts the team above himself.

No justification for Martinelli's actions though; clearly injured, no one was near him and he went down ffs

thing is, even if he was faking it, when has anyone ever successfully pushed someone off the pitch and the ref gone, cool, he’s off let’s crack on then lads.

All it was ever going to do was delay the game even more because it was going to cause more Liverpool players to get involved and the ref to have to get involved. So it’s completely pointless.

It’s a bit like grabbing the ball from the back of the net and causing issue with the keeper, the ref isn’t going to blow the whistle because you’ve put the ball on the spot.

Strange game that. I've been vocal about Slot and can't say I've changed my mind but I have to consider that if we can play like that consistently and if he can make tactical changes like in that 2nd half there may be some hope for him.
If we'd had a striker we'd have won it. Doesn't excuse the poor performances and strange tactics from other games but it's food for thought.

You could also argue that had we had a striker, we'd have been more open too

The two movements which those who are trying to defend the action look really clear to me

First movement he looks like he goes to get up and realised he can’t so moves an inch or two

The second movement is him moving his leg to the physio who has arrived so most likely under instruction

For me it’s a red
Martinelli knew he made a mistake throwing the ball at him then compounded it - in short he lost his temper - that’s what red cards and retrospective bans are literally for

It was a great to see - just as the Madrid game was. The challenge now is getting this level intensity and will for every single match. Those draws will then very quickly turn into wins
