Back four need to practice the offside trap as the two FB's were never in position today. Both FB's seem to like going forwards but this leaves massive space behind them which can be exploited once we lose the ball.
Salah had a terrible game today and should have been taken off.
I would have preferred Jones and Etikite off for Rio and Macca, moving Gakpo into the striker role. Doak could have come on for Salah

The squad every season will have areas of weakness that need to be addressed. No team is perfect.
No one was concerned when we lost to ac Milan in friendly? No one was raving when we beat atletic in a friendly. Why are people concerned when we draw another one?
I don’t think we need to go over the top, but definitely concerned with how much fitter palace seemed second half
People have said we need a new DM lwell before we played Palace today and Endo coming on just proved that point.
We need another striker, known before we played Palace today as we knew Nunéz was leaving and the tragedy of losing Jota.
We Need another CB, with Gomez a sick note and Quansah leaving, known before playing Palace
I think a few of us have been in agreement about a CMAnyone who's watched our games will have seems he exact same issue.
I've been saying buy a cm but nobody wants to listen. Til now.
Seriously jones wasn't that arsed today. He prodded it about got good over by tnt for 53 passes thst went nowhere but he never tracked a run as per usual.
As for Elliott. If we get 50mil for thst guy I'll laugh. The called it before the shoot out. No way he should be within 50 miles of anything that needs bottle.
Hopefully Elliott is next out the door with tsimiaks as we go buy that cb and cm amd winger I've been whinging about.
How salah stayed on today I dont know. He was anonymous first half and gsve about 10mins second. He was a passenger.
The reality check is palace are not going to be top 8 this year. They are the most mid tbsle side going. They do nothing for large tracks of the season and usually finish strong and get a few points to finish around 12th.
I dont see them pulling a forest here. I like a lot of their players but I dont see it.
We just got dominated for large parts.

I think somenhere have commented on thr defensive leakng right the way though preseason. Those people are proven right again.
Slot commented they were in control up to the goal.

He was trying to get two midfield subs on due to being dominated and after doing that they were then blunt but at least slightly more solid.
Vvd gave a pen away and a goal rushing for offside rather than holding position.
Alisson was very busy either clearing it, Catching it or saving us.
We pinned them for short periods but couldn't really kill them off and were always open to a switch and counter.
We still could have scored 5. Ekitike missed 2 sitters and salah always found on his left foot 12 yards out and hit it right at the keeper.
The most concerning thing was the state of fitness at this point after a full preseason. Youd hope they will now go to a normal season training schedule and recoveries and look a bitter better than that.
Most of all you'd hope they learn finally that a 1 goal lead in the prem is too fine a margin to play the control game without threatening yourself.

Or… if was a pre season friendly and like every friendly you don’t play at 100% even if it is subconscious and come Friday, the team will be bang up for it under the lights at Anfield.
How about we see a few competitive games before getting too disheartened?

You give as good as you get. Palace had more about them.
Last year there was no such holding back on last day
I was impressed overall in the first half and then 2nd half we just seemed lacking in match fitness plus the subs didn't work.
We need a center back that's clear but if we didn't sign a striker I wouldn't be that concerned.
Link up play was really good in the final 3rd and Jones did a great DM impression.
Mistakes were made but it's a friendly with a bit of an edge.

Just a reminder vvd was ill the last week hence missing the last friendly match and was a maybe for today. May explain why was slightly off the boil
Nice to see Elliott come on and play well (other than that penalty) hoping he stays now and gets game time.
You want a CB, DM and another forward or do you want Elliott to stay. Cause those are the two options
