I done said it a couple of games into the season, you had your man in Ekitike, signing Isak was a mistake and just disrupted things that didnt need disrupting. Ekitike looked amazing in the first few games until he was dropped for Isak. As much as you also probably dont want to hear this part aswell......I think you are missing Trent as a creative outlet. I am not seeing the same level of trust from your centre backs in Frimpong and Kirkez than I did when it was Trent and Robertson, either. Van Dijk having lost half a yard of pace and Konate's loss of form isnt helping. (Though Konate looked better against United for me) All that combined with a lack of physicality in midfield and teams know they can bully you. I have no doubt you will get it together, attacking wise......you have too much talent in that area not too. It just needs bedding in. Remember Wirtz, Ekitike etc are all new to this league and Isak lacks fitness. That will eventually come together. Its defensively where you should be worried. Teams are playing through you, and I think if some of the teams in your earlier games had been a bit braver and a little less cautious against you, you might not have gotten that string of wins early on.
I agree. We wanted isak got knocked back and went and got the option. The option worked really well at the outset and in preseason looked like he was working really well with wirtz. The isak thing then started up and youd wonder what the decision process was to go back in and keep going and stop procuring wingers. I have said as much though, we are due and absolute kicking from someone. Arsenal absolutely missed their chance. They didn't even try attack. We are all over thr place in every line and theres no shape to it so someone is going to absolutely destroy us before this gets real for some. We need to find the basic shape and not overly worry about isak.
I’m not talking about the shots the hit the bar? You’re just ongoing what I’m saying. I’ve said yes defensively we have been poor. However you saying we don’t create good chances is just wrong. Against United we had 4 chances that normally get put away. The comment has nothing to do with the defence. If you want to talk about the defence, yeah it’s been ****.
Agree on TAA. Said it myself couple weeks back, not even just his creativity as we’re still creating chances but more so the control he gives in keeping the ball and making it less a basketball game. Ekitike looked great but is still young and i think having 2 top class forwards was important - especially as no guarantee Ekitike will be 7/8 out of 10 every week and with that many games need rotation. Having lost Jota Diaz and Nunez def needed 2 bodies for that forward line. Just think the pressure and not being fit hasn’t helped him but he’ll come good no doubt. Midfield is just over the place. Grav was best DM with caicedo last year and some reason is now more box to box when isn’t needed as Wirtz should be the creativity in midfield and Mac looks ****ed every game while Szobo is being shifted around as Slot hasn’t worked out what to do with RB.
After my eyes have recovered from reading white text on black background why do people do that? .... I have to say he's reiterating what practically every Liverpool fan is saying. It's glaringly obvious to everyone - except those who can do something about it.
No you needed 2 strikers for sure, but you signed Ekitike for £70m so he should be your main man. You shouldnt then go spend £125m on another striker because then the pressure is on the manager to play him, even when the £70m guy is kicking arse! Bottom line is, if you spend £125m on a player, you cant then bench him, really! And so the manager ends up having to bench Ekitike, which in hindsight looks a bad move. Unless he can get them playing together. What you should have done is signed Ekitike and someone like Delap, who we signed, for £30m, who can do a job but wont be expecting to start every week.
lots of ifs and buts. None of us know the intent and long term plan or if there even is one. Most knew that so many new players would need a bedding in period and new patterns of play to suit their strengths….but nobody expected this much disruption. It’s gunna take some time and some adaptation, that’s for sure.
You are spouting the slot excuse. The reality is every sides misses chances and utd missed chances. We concede. We try score. We huff and ouff. We get ine then the opposition go again and scored again. 3 league game win a row. Its not realistic to expect it to be 8-0-0 if only se took some chances. If we could defend it out 5-3-0 was maybe possible but the reality is we are now 5-0-3 We are leaking like a sieve. That's reality.
Agree. However, I'll add that our attack not flowing allows the opposition a little bit of freedom to attack more too. If our attack was firing, the opposition wouldn't be so keen to commit forward.
Gakpo and Salah haven't done much this season so switch it up. Go 4312 and put Wirtz behind Ekitike AND Isak. Make the midfield three robust and let the two FBs provide the width. Failing that, play Chiesa right, Ekitike left, Isak up top with Wirtz behind. Tell the two CMs to stay sitting. Stop telling Gravenberch to play B2B, he was one of the best DM in the league last year, play him at DM. Same applies with Macca; he was one of the best CMs last year, stop asking him to sit and cover Gravenberch. He's not a DM; he was **** at DM in Klopp's last season too! I'm convinced it'll turn around sooner rather than later, but there does seem to be some glaringly obvious tactical errors
Ekitike started games because Isak wasn't fit. Then he gets himself suspended and who knows whether the last two games not starting has been a residual punishment for his silliness with the red card. Had Isak come in the normal way, fully fit and raring to go, it may have been Ekitike not starting the earlier games. Ekitike's red hot form was a pleasant surprise that must have given the coaching staff a conundrum because he may not have been the original first choice pick. Let's see if both start tomorrow and how that goes.
Not sure where this idea that Frimpong can't do FB has come from. He played 1 game against one of the highest pressing teams in the league, a game we won btw and neither goal we conceded was his fault. Bradley is still too young to be consistent and Szob is wasted at RB, plus Frimpong actually overlaps and can cross.
I don't know. Slot started preseason without bradley and played frimpong and it was so-so. I wasnt gone on his ability to control thr ball or just play forward but that's not the same as cant defend What i am seeing is this desire to just runnin narrow arms shut off all the passing options for the opposition and none of it really works. Stay ****ing wide. Be an option to pass to. Turn you body so you can pass forward. The first pass seems to be automatically back if the full backs even get the ball at all. Its all very strange
I'd like to see this. I'd like to see a narrow 4222. Get szobo and wirtz in there and tell macallister and gravenberch to just sit and stay. Get those full backs who are young and fast running up and down. Anything bar rinse and repeat this stuff as it leaks like a sieve, theres nothing coming from the strengths of those full backs. Let's go.
