Personally I wouldn't want him anyway, he's been great in the SPL but I don't think he'd do as well down here. I'd prefer someone with Championship experience like Malky.

There is also the concept of a new challenge and the potential to make a career south of the border. There is only so much pleasure to be had by winning the SPL, particularly as Rangers are no longer part of it either and we must look a reasonably attractive proposition. Where else would he go?

Going by the logic.....

Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Ajax ................

C'mon JWM, who out of the other established CL teams would take a punt on him, having only managed in a league consisting at best two teams?

If he is worth his salt I would expect him to go to an established Premier League club which of course you were until recently!

I am sure you would agree, if you are thinking straight, and indeed he would be, unless he goes to one of the top 6, he will always run the risk of relegation from the PL. In that regard, there would not be much difference in managing, lets say West Brom (for the sake of the argument) and a handful of the bigger Championship sides, as any of them could be in either league over the course of the next 4-5 years.

Fortunately Mick McCarthy is staying where he is so he would have to settle for you boys instead!

To be fair though, I think a lot of us have said that the chances of him taking over will diminish should we go down, haven't seen many that have suggested he would take over a Championship team.

I think Warky knows that though to be fair, and why let it get in the way of a bit of rubbish wumming?

Warky, forgetting the fact that he manages your lot, I've told you before that I would never want that dinosaur McCarthy managing my club. You're very welcome to him mate ;)

This is the type of straight talking you want from your manager! <ok>

“Tayls isn’t my type, I’m afraid, just not my style. I’ve not fallen out with him, I’ve just said to him, ‘I’ve not fallen out with you, you’ve not fallen out with me but you’re not going to play for me. You want to play, so let’s cut to the quick and do something about it. Let’s stop pissing about with it. Let’s crack on'.”

did mick mccarthy really say that?

wow.

most people would be f**king livid if the manager said that about the most talented and creative player on their books.

This is Sherwoods "poor" record.

Played 27
Won 13
Draw 4
Lost 10
48.15% wins

Not too bad for a numpty.

Any manager with over a 45% Win record is pretty decent! <ok>

Excuse me, but where have I used either of the words "poor" or "numpty"???

If you want to have a sensible debate about things then please don't make up things or attribute quotations to people that they didn't say, that's really not on and it's a terrible way to have a debate.

Back to your point that you actually make - are you really trying to compare Tim Sherwood's 13 wins as a manager with Fergie (1,239 wins - 58%), Wenger (777 wins - 54%), Cloughie (594 wins - 45%) and Mourinho (459 - 67%)????

Really?????? <yikes>

actually that's a pretty dreadful set of stats for a top six club. avb got sacked after 80 games and only lost 16 of them. sherwood has lost almost two-thirds that amount in just 27 games. he's losing more than one in every three - that is NOT a good record for a tottenham manager with the quality players at his disposal. and they'd have lost far more were it not for the excellent lloris

In other news I see Swansea have appointed Gary Monk on a full-time basis. Have to admit I'm a bit surprised by that and would have thought they would perhaps have set their sights a bit higher, I think they could struggle next season.

I agree. If you go to the swans board, I think a fair amount of swans fans are surprised - but will get behind him. be interesting to see what type of players he can attract.
