Without Benteke, Villa are ****ed, let's be honest. Even though now we have Hudders and Livermore we can certainly stay up, Villa suffering something like that really would have helped the cause.
I always viewed this fixture, when it was an anual event, as a smoke screen to our national teams. Yes we would chop lumps out of each other, England would win then Scotland. But outside this cozy duopoly other footballing nations had moved on being both superior technically and fitness wise, and don't quote me England beating Germany 5-1 on their patch. In most of the important international matches over the years both England and Scotland, along with Wales and Northern Ireland, have been thumped by superior footballing nations, Scotland I'm afraid would like to forget Peru and certain other World Cups. England have slipped well down the international table since that day in 1966 and who were the first team to beat us on our home soil after winning the World Cup? Germany have beaten us on most of the important occasions since and though it peeves me to say so have France and Holland once our inferiors. The Magyars taught us a lesson many years ago, it seems we haven't learned much since.
Only watched the highlights but i felt sorry for McGregor as the jock defence was awful. 2 free headers by Welbeck and Lambert cost goals. Pleased for Lambert though. Robbie Brady had a good game for the ROI last night. Looking sharp for sunday.
We lost 1-0 to Iceland Played pretty well though, which is rare for us away from home. I had to watch the highlights of Lamberts goal; good to see him making the breakthrough.
