That's part of my thinking Hoppers, if I move back to Suffolk I WILL be tearing my hair out a lot and feel disappointed and frustrated. Or I can pick and choose a few northern away games and check out Man City and Huddersfield games as well (i would never ever stoop to watching Leeds in the home end).

I am shocked and flabbergasted at that response from the club, in my days as a season ticket holder the club couldn't help itself but bend over backwards.

I have to say I think what he said is being made a mountain out of a molehill. Clearly this article was written as many have been in the past to appeal to the fans emotions and cause them to be outraged and it appears to have worked. It almost feels as it did under Magilton again, where the press just use anything they can to wind up the fans.

Probably on PJ's and the clubs part it is an attempt to underpromise and over deliver rather than what has happened under Keane and this season where we were over promised and got delivered nothing.

And Spanish if you look what I said, I said it seemed naive, especially commercially to say something like this at a time when people are renewing season tickets. Although I agree what he actually said perhaps he should have said it closer to pre-season, finishing next season in 7th or 8th with a decent team in place would be seen as progress following the shambles of the past few seasons!! Its my opinion, I'm not going to say that I thought it was a stupid thing to say if I don't think it was, I just think the timing could've been better and he was perhaps naive to say this direct to the EADT!! Its a bit like the fuel strike things, whilst it would be sensible to advise people who are going on long journeys or who need fuel to stock up, it was naive by the government to think that it wouldn't cause caos!! This of course is by no means on the scale of that blunder as I said a mountain is being made out of a molehill. But I would say I think that what you said was a stupid thing to say of course I'm not gonna agree if he calls me a ******, plus he would never do this, he may say it to you but never me!!

And guru after the season we've had do u really expect PJ to come out and say 'Success next season only comes from getting automatic promotion, nothing else will do?' it's a possibility that it could have but its improbable when taking everything into account.

On the whole I think PJ says the right things although sometimes I do wonder if he says too much when it would have been better just to keep his mouth shut, especially considering how the fans and press appear to be atm.

But I have to agree with you on all the ticket senarios as usual. I do think in general season ticket prices are decent but the match day tickets are a farce. They are either ridiculously expensive or there's some deal which de-values season ticket prices. Just have reasonable price match day tickets all throughout the and there wouldn't be this problem. I mean some games its nearly £40 to go to, its ridiculous maximum price for adults should be around £25 no more!! The club whilst needing to run like a business has lost its heart and doesn't appear very intune with the supporters for doing things that are slightly out of protocol!!

The problem ptc is that the club have under promised and under delivered for the last 10 years! The majority of fans are now getting mightily pissed off with the drivel coming out of PR! Weighty had it right, If they have nothing to say then don't say anything.

For many years, in fact since the ME takeover I have been saying that the operation premiership style approach has been one of our biggest mistakes. It raised fans expectations and the performances have been so far removed from this level that it has (IMO) made our below par performances feel even worse. When your promised a bentley being given a citreon 2cv feels like a major kick in the danglies.
Now this could be genius, if ME has told that belts are going to be tightened and we wont have any cash, or if he is saying it to get some nerves out of the squad but it does seem like a total disaster and it certainly wont help a good time feel return to PR in the near future. I definately feel this has been done with bad timing at best and utter stupidity at worst.

alright ptc, you tell me this. We are looking to improve the squad next year. what in the name of christ does that say to potential signings that we might go after!

I will tell you, that we are a club with no ambition!

Tractorbhoy, as my post above, would you sign for our club after this statement? what sort of ambition does this show potential signings?

I can't see how anybody can defend this, this a championship club mentally. this will mean that we only be in the market for washed up prem players or failed championship players! fan bloody tastic!

Funny how we like to justify our points Spanish. Feel alot of people could do with doing the same thing on this site. And I think you will find that neither of us have said that it was perhap appropriate for him to say it. Although like I've said it appears alot is being made out of it, mountain out of a molehill!!!

Looks like the writing is on the wall! if you can't attract players because of a perceived lack of ambition, the only new players you will get are loanees looking for first team football! We went down that road under Rodent, and led us down to league one!

on another note, how are the financial fair play rules going to affect ipswich? obviously wages will have to be cut throughout the club but do you think it will push you further behind other clubs in the championship or actually be a blessing, meaning you need to look to youth more?

Hopefully it will promote the younger players in the league and get clubs to look at talent further down the league, rather than washed up prem players looking for a last pay day.

How that will affect us, nobody really knows!

Was just wondering on the subject of jewell saying to much or not enough, have I missed the announcement on Leadboots plans for next season, I recall jewell saying that he was expecting an answer around this time last week...!

I'm not sure how it will effect us but there is no doubt it is needed. I will be pleased that the club won't just be throwing money at players and it may mean that rather than having alot of fringe players we will have to throw some youngster into the team. Although I don't think it will effect our spending too much in terms of transfer fees, although clearly those on lesser wages will command less of a transfer fee and I think after the Keane shambles anyway ME realises throwing money at a situation doesn't neccessarily work.

Maybe some clubs will take a gamble next season and spend alot of money trying to get to the PL but the only clubs I can see doing this are clubs who have come down and West Ham and Leicester, everyone else appears to also be tightening their belts.

This may even mean that matchday ticket prices go down, I doubt it but you can only dream.

My only concern is that it might mean the gap between the championship and the PL becomes even greater, although only in terms of money, it may mean Championship clubs don't quite as easily sack managers and have such a high turnaround of players which can only be good for the stability and team ethic of a club, as we have seen with Norwich and Swansea this season where both teams have evolved.

Murray (still one of our players I believe?) has taken a swipe at PJ:

“Paul (Jewell) has been manager at a few clubs and he knows the ropes, but Paolo has fresh ideas and got the lads going here after a bit of a rough start.

“Everyone has bought into his way so far and everyone loves to play for him.”
