Best of all was when they ran out of the right number to hang up - usually '0' but sometimes '1'! By the time they got to matches R,S,T etc. there could be a 2-?, ?-2 and best of all a ?-?. We could usually guess though.

I think it may well have been more to do with the fact that it was a cringingly embarrassing cr*p song!

I only have a vague recollection of the tune - think it may have been pinched from an old Aussie Rules song called Up There Cazaly, but that may just be my memory playing tricks.

I will defo have to look this up!

I remember the A to Z scores and the way they were put up by some bloke with a stick, you just waited for something to go wrong. In the meantime 10 mins of the 2nd half had gone by. And to think we had an "electronic" scoreboard with dancing men!!!!!

As for an OAP group, what age are you going to set entry at?????? I don't want to be a member thanks very much!

Elixir - I suspect entry would be by self choice - which means it will probably always be zero :)

I suspect it would not be called the OAP Group though but something gentle like "Silver Hornets" :emoticon-0119-puke:

Afternoon all, Success I think at the sous prefecture this morning. I do love it when one bureaucrat calls another ridiculous. Simply because my photo was out-dated on one part of my UK driving license was no reason not to give me a French one according to this very nice lady. Actually she was quite nice in a number of ways.;)

Then into a lovely restaurant alongside the river to book a table for Sunday. Mme has her birthday next week, so thought she would like to choose from the rather expensive menu on offer. She always feels good when she is spending my money. :(

After my afternoons estate work I am now going through my warming down routine, consisting of sitting down with a cold beer.

If I were to start an OAP group it would known as Ollies Anecdotal Postings. It would consist entirely of remembrances of some of the great players to have been at the Vic, as described by the great man.:emoticon-0117-talki

Nope, I've just been on to Youtube and the tune is definitely not "Up there Cazaly".

    Sorry.......

Although Boots is right when he described it as a "cringingly embarrassing cr*p song".

I'll try to upload my interpretation.

As for an OAP group, yes I draw a pension - but no I don't consider myself of "Old Age".

Quite right too vic-. "Old Age" does not start in my book before you are ninety at the very least. I did see on the news today that the last known surviving person who had fought in the first WW had just died at 110.

How about 'The Gold & Silver Hornets' with a sub-group for those who live in sunnier climes, 'The Gold, Silver and Bronzed Hornets' <whistle>?
