this is terrible.
if he is guilty he should hang, however with the advances we have with dna analysis this could be proved a lot quicker. obviously the police have a right and a responsibility to release certain info on arrests but how often is any thought given to the accused's future , if he is innocent this must be hanging very heavy on his shoulders as he is just a kid himself unfortunately now this is in the media mud sticks and cue the rumours and "no smoke without fire" train of thought.
if they have firm evidence fair enough but to release this on an accusation isn't on.
 
There is something not quite right here. Firstly, a story of this vile and disgusting nature merits a press blackout. ie the accused deserves to remain anonomous until a charge or even a conviction is made. That is my understanding of the law here.

I thought it was the case that names couldn't be published if the offender is under 18?
 
Don't you know that many youngsters are being forced in to such vile behaviour because they feel disenfranchised from society?

The lack of jobs, youth clubs and £30 per week payments for doing bugger-all means that the kids have no other choice but to cause riots and dabble in sexual deviancy.

The scum in the sun know that they can get away with it because he hasn't been charged. Someone in the met police has presumably leaked this to the Murdoch Mafia for money if not, how has the confidential nature of the 12 and 17 year old mentioned in the story made the press. The Filkin report condemned the leaking of stories of this nature by the police for gain I wonder whether the dame will get an opportunity to examine the basis of how this made the paper.
 
It's under 16s that arrests can't be publicised, I thought. However yes, if this is true then oh dear :( innocent until proven guilty though eh?
 
I wonder if the same police also alerted the media in operation 'waste of public money' when 9 fans were arrested for singing whilst wearing stone island clothing. I don't know who got to the door first, the cops or the cameras.
 
I thought there was a law about cases like this that you can't name the alleged offender in case that breaches the confidentiality of the alleged victim.

If true, then obviously he must face the full force of the law.
 
The same basic tenet of English law has to apply here as in the terry case. He is innocent until found guilty. It is worth noting that he has not been charged. Which presumably means that the police do not have enough (possibly any) evidence in the matter. Probably feeling a grieved that they haven't got enough to persuade the CPS to take the matter further they leak the story to make certain that reputation is damaged.

I once had a former colleague who was arrested by the police on suspicion of a financial offence. The company was informed by the press. The police had no evidence of a crime merely suspicion of wrongdoing. It cost the man his position despite him never being charged with the offence and the bail he was put under quietly being rescinded some six months later.

Let us just hope that Jordan is innocent of this and that the media end up eating their words.
 
just as i advocated a suspension for terry...if there is anything in these allegations Jordan needs to be suspended immediately.

now...i suspect if it was totally unmeritorious, the sun wouldnt have published for fear of libel. tewkes correctly identifies the role our in house legal beagels should have played in quashing this pre-publication
