Just for info Ron notdistantgreen is a member of our small but very select cliental on the Plymouth board who is seldom prone to losing his rag about anything. Reasoned argument is the norm so you must understand that this particular subject must be very raw in his case. If you knew his history then you can imagine what the hot heads think and are saying. The non winner by the way was football so that might narrow down the answer to your question......
We do appreciate the way you folk have conducted yourselves on our forum Greeny, despite the bitterness you all share. It is only the second time we have been on the receiving end; the other being when our Safety Officer came to the rescue when we were 2-0 down against Bristol Rovers at Adams Park. The game had to be replayed, and we won. I hope no Rovers fans are reading this. I think they were more peeved than yourselves.
Elf and Safety is paramount Ron.......we had a game called off when we were 4 down a few years back when the heaven opened and the ground looked like it had moved to Carlisle. Always knew this was God's country down here. We drew the replay. The worst must have been that game where a police dog was hired to bite a player on the arse and delay the match. Thus creating a late goal which saved the teams league survival. I mean bribing a copper and his dog for Christ sake..........
While we are the subject of H&S, what I would add is that a combination of Wycombe's tactics and the appalling set of officials brought us closer to a nasty situation with the fans than I can remember for a long long time. I wouldn't have been altogether surprised if one or more PAFC fans from the lunatic fringe had gone over the barrier at the players or the officials. That's how bad it was. We all know that all clubs including our own have players who go down when they don't need to and slow the game down when it suits them. Clearly we're all biased but we all have to recognise that the amount of cheating that goes on gets worse every year and whether it's us or the other lot, it isn't good for the game as a whole. We certainly shouldn't defend our own teams if they step over the line.
Do I like playing unattractive football with border line gamesmanship NO, do I like winning playing unattractive football with border line gamesmanship NO. Do I like losing and almost being out of the league NO. Do we have a squad/manager capable of playing attractive football and winning NO. Therefore I take option 2 until we can win with attractive football. I'm resigned to being the next Stoke and winning at whatever the cost.
