I'm not sure what everyone is gutted about, yes his scoring record is good and he appears to be exactly what we need (according to us experts!) but I trust MON and we're scoring goals from all positions, he's not exactly proven in the PL and how many Jan transfers start well straightaway? I think MON will be thinking along the lines of we have Bendtner, Sess, Whickham, Ji and Campbell due back, Gyan (I think he'll leave) due back in the summer and I think he'll review it all again then. Maybe Campbell or Whickham can fill the 'goalscoring' striker position until the end of the season. It's only because NUFC have got him that we're throwing our toys out of the pram, keep the faith, we'll be alright!!
The competition hasn't started properly yet. Their first game is on Saturday night against Zambia, so they may not put their full strength team out anyway. I'm assuming that the African coaches know that they might have to lose one or two of their bigger players for transfer talks and medicals etc. Best to get it done before the tournament starts.
Brave words Cest but I am gutted and I dont blame Newcastle fans for being excited. Right now, for me, all of the good work bringing O'Neill in has just gone, I am pig sick of always being the bridsmade.
Pick yourself up man. Think about where you were with Bruce, and where you were now. You definitely lack quality up front, but your team looks solid as **** at the back now. You could have very easily beaten Chelsea with all the mistakes they made and how you kept them out apart from that lucky ****ing Lampard goal. You're only 2/3 players away from being a top 8 side
That's the problem with speculation, nowt has happened, yet your day is ruined... give yourself a shake...
I wouldn't get so down about it Syd! It's not as if he's signed for us and cracked in 50 goals, 4 hat tricks against Sunderland and won us the league, relegating Sunderland in the process.
To be honest, as I have stated previously, I know nothing about the lad so don't feel gutted at all.. What I do know is he will be away on Africa Nation's Cup duty for a good while, and although I hate steretyping players, the vast majority of the African players that I have saw have in my opinion only ever shown loyalty to money, which may have something to do with the 'have very little' culture of their nation of origin.
Whatever happens, we are no worse off than we were a few hours ago, so no need for defeatism. We blew this one though, a contract was agreed pre-season.
I wouldnt want him.........he might have done a 'Gyan' and dropped us right in the clarts!!!! Spending big on these African players rarely delivers the goods!!! Wait till the cold North East wind starts blowing right up his shorts!!!!! Never heard of him anyway!!! Right......thats me trying to console myself....hasnt worked really! haha!!!! Didnt really want him....but now hes going to the town....I'm somehow depressed!!!!!
Suppose but it wouldn't happen on my watch. I'd have told him if Newcastles officials want to bring the paperwork over you can have x amount of time to sort it. If not its not happening. These players get away with blue murder. Preparing for a major international competition and you're jumping on a plane halfway round the world. No chance.
Just footballers in general RAW whether african, european, south american or otherwise. They're all greedy ****s.
Perhaps you are right mate, but I feel that it is magnified when it comes to players from the poorer African nations, largely because many of them have brought up on the breadline and therefore money means so much more to them.
Yeah, like Sessegnon ... wait a minute, some of the best and most exciting players in the PL are African. Tash just wants to be loved this ^
