Liverpool fans should stop whining. When Gerrard was cleared of affray in 2009, I, among others, asserted that he should still be charged by the FA for bringing the game into disrepute. Regardless of the (ridiculous) court verdict, by being in that situation (fighting over a choice of music alongside a group of scallies) and involved in such a high profile case, he brought shame upon football. But the FA left it. Terry has also been cleared by a court of law, no more tenuously than Gerrard. And yet unlike SG, JT has still been charged by the FA. I have no sympathy for the Chelsea captain, but the racism defending scousers need to wind their collective neck in.
Well said. Typical of the self pitying scousers. Reliving their whole unsavoury role in the football anti-racism campaign. Suarez is a lowlife we all know that but the club via their buffoon manager at the time went out of their way to condone his actions. Vigorously defending his actions by wearing that T-Shirt and through the media. Dogsh1t the buffoon never once said that racism in football was unacceptable. He was unceremoniously and humiliatingly booted out of Anfield in the end but it was too late. The damage to the scousers as an institution turning a blind eye to racism (at best) had been done. Suarez deserved to get his 8 match ban and more
Agree with you there. And it's hardly the first time either - didn't Diouf get away with a two match ban for spitting at the crowd when playing for Liverpool? Most players get between three and ten games for that, but IIRC Diouf's ban was imposed by the court so the FA didn't do anything. As for the whole "cleared in court" thing, I fail to see how that is a good thing. The fact remains that there was enough evidence for the CPS to take Terry and Gerrard to court with a reasonable chance of convicting them. How can that be any better than never going to court in the first place?
'Footballers' appear in court on rape charges, drink driving, assault, to apply for super injunctions to hide their extra-marital affairs, theft etc and you think only Gerrard should have faced a disrepute charge. Your bitterness precedes your sense of fair justice.
Personally I think any footballer who is charged with anything other than a driving offence should face an FA charge too. Tho' obviously there could be exceptions in the case of players like RVP and Bellamy where the accusations are shown to be fabricated.
No. It is racist and appalling. JT deserves his ban as does Evra. No excuses: personally I think terry should have got a bigger ban but four was max under FA rules so they upped the fine
JT deserved his ban and his punishment. One thing I have to give credit to the chavs is that at no time did they try to justify the actions of Terry nor did they wear T-shirts to show their approval for his actions. It was an appaling individual behaviour which any club should not condone.
So when Dave Jones was cleared by a court of child molestation chrges he should still face an FA charge? "Oh but he was obviously innocent" say Jip and you, "But Gerrard was clearly guilty". So you, Jip and United fans should be the arbiter of when the FA should convene an 'independent' witchhunt, based upon your belief of whether a court verdict was right or not? maybe they could do a Sky text vote or just go by the latest chant at OT on the subject? This would be laughable if it wasn't how the FA actually DO think.
How can anyone justify Suarez or Terry's behaviour? we can maybe criticize the way terry's case has been handled but that's it. And we could maybe say that United and Chelsea handled the incidents with more dignity (especially Sir Alex and United) than QpR and Pool. Terry makes me feel (a little) ashamed to be a Chelsea fan
Maybe the FA will appeal the 4 game ban and get it reduced like they did during the euros regarding a fat bald thug.
Gerrard is just one of a long list of footballers past and present that's fell foul of the law, but to single him out when there's many actually been found guilty of crimes worse than the charge he was accused of is laughable. Convicted footballer rapists and *****s are ok but Gerrard should be made an example of?
Yes please. Has there been a higher profile case involving a football in recent years? I doubt it. It wasn't the first time he's been involved with crime and criminals either. There was 'The Fixer' business a few years back too. You still didn't answer the question though. Why Terry and not Gerrard?
Why would they do that? It's not an international ban, and even if it was somehow, Terry's retired from England. Think before you type, you dullard. Gerrard was clearly shown on CCTV attacking a man. The self-defence verdict was ridiculous. Plus the case was far more high profile than the Jones one, and brought far more bad publicity to football.
In your opinion. a court felt differently. By this logic Rooney should be hauled up too for his drunken assault on a teenager and attack of a photographer, and as for bringing bad publicity to footbll by actions outside the game.... Rooney and the prozzies? Ryan Giggs? Rio? RVP? By your logic, no court action/verdict is necessary, so why not these? And why not fans who've been caught on video/cctv singing songs about stadium disasters when their own cluband manager specifically begged them not to?
You need a 'fixer' for the bs you spout, higher profile cases depend on the crime as well as the accused. The FA you reckon should have punished Gerrard for a crime he didn't commit handed Graham Rix his coaching badges back the day he signed the ***** register on his release from prison and Chelsea couldn't wait to give him his job back. Brilliant logic.
