Good post Life experience is so valuable to pass on, learning from others successes and mistakes could make such a difference to impressionable youngsters. The government were very keen on employing ex servicemen as teachers, not sure how that panned out. The same lack of experience can be said for many elected politicians who have absolutely no experience in commerce or real life. What life experience did somebody like Cameron have, school, university, political advisor (dogsbody) MP, PM. Maybe the country should be run by the vastly knowledgable over 65s.
I see Trevor Phillips has been suspended from the Labour Party for "islamophobia". My understanding is that a phobia is an irrational fear. Nothing irrational about fearing islam - there's at least 13 countries around the world that I'd be executed in just for being me and we all know what too literal a belief drives some people to do. Islamophobia is blasphemy by the back door. Nothing to do with race but how people think. Of course not every muslim thinks I should be executed for being an unbeliever so it's a case of "love the believer, fear the belief" to paraphrase the christian ideologue of "love the sinner, hate the sin".
Thank you all for the informative debate on my post. I would like to comment in detail but I am away at the moment and only have this pad to type on which takes hours and I loath doing it. Whilst I take on board many of your comments my main point was a majority of pupils were having their education disrupted by a minority and we should be looking after the interests of the majority. Like a lot of other things these days far too much effort is put into appeasing the minority. I hope that I can comment more on my return next week.
Point well taken Scully.. I used to work in the main with the minority.. And often when managed separately great strides could be made. I have no doubt that parenting has a major part to play.. But not in every case...
I think it is all getting crazy..... Meanwhile the Israeli regime gets away with terrible crimes against Palestinian people that would be prosecuted in most so called 'free' countries....
Absolutely...... you have to hand it to how they have managed to manipulate the masses, get the US and Uk on their side.... and how the Muslim world lets them get away with it.... ...apart from Iran that is.... who the west also demonize...
I'm not too sure about the 'these days' - as far as I can ascertain, and certainly within my own experience as a pupil, it has always been thus. The difference being that parents then approved of this type of treatment for their unruly children - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-us-canada-51638871/six-year-old-girl-arrested-at-florida-school - whereas these days, apart from in the USA apparently, it is quite rightly frowned upon.
Two sides to the Israeli situation: successive right wing governments have thieved land prior to agreed as "Palestinian" which has enflamed the situation, especially when they then build on it and put civilians there; Hamas has, within its Charter, the goal of obliterating the Jewish state and blames Israel and the Jews for... well, pretty much everything. Hamas also keep poking the hornets nest by firing rockets from schools, hospitals, other public buildings where there is a large civilian populace - all of which only serves to elicit a response from the IDF. It's a mess and both sides of political leaders need their heads banging together. Hard.
What do they know about the Old Testament Besides which they can't spell, there are not two m's in their title
