He moved his head in Richards direction, but it was merely squaring up to him. It's not his fault that Richards is short so Fernandez has to move his head down to square up to him. Richards was the one moving forward at Fernandez too, but neither headbutted. They touched foreheads while squaring up to one another. If Richards had been headbutted, he'd be holding his face on the floor most likely - he wasn't.

I agree that Fernandez was wrong and some refs might well have acted differently. But that was no head-butt. I actually think that in face of violent provocation Fernandez was rather restrained, though like I said he shouldn't have reacted. Let's remember it was Richards that began the altercation and even went absolutely berserk with Williams who was trying to calm him down. That was my son's take and he was at the game, but also mine and the commentators on the feed I had. I think even the MOTD guys said something like "Villa can do without this". Everyone said Richards was the instigator so it's a little harsh to round on our players.

If I'm reading Lib's posts correctly the thread was put up in order to criticise Sigurdsson for his comments. As a player who was trying to take the sting out of the post-match hullabaloo that the media were trying to stir up he simply acknowledged that the Villa players had a lot at stake so perhaps it was understandable. That's not condoning anything at all, just a statement from a seasoned professional who understands the pressure, so my personal view is that he doesn't deserve that criticism. Clearly Lib you'd disagree and that's your right too.

If there was a lack of control I would lay it at the villa player at full time, and during the head butt that weren't. If you are using this controlling of players, how much of a fine should they receive? As if it's even worth asking as I can guess your answer.

He gets a £50,000.00 fine.Big deal,since that is peanuts to him,and the Club gets off scot free.
Now,with Mourinho being a serial offender,a points deduction would have more affect,and Chelsea would have to deal with him.

Swans players showed remarkable resilience while being abused by the villa players and Richards in particular, If someone does more than shouting and trys to square up to you then what are you to do, There was no headbutt at all as if fab had retaliated he would have hurt the little squirt big time. Sadly when these things happen the both teams get punished but if it was treated fairly then there is only one club that should be punished and that is Villa with Richards in particular.....
