Hear hear! Well done Ash. We all know the posters who constantly moan at the mods, constantly bitching from the sidelines. As if they could do any better. Trouble is, as a mod you can't put the buggers on your Ignore list. Grow a nice thick skin and tell 'em to naff orf! Most of us will back you.
Sorry to say but its a bad world out there, most of us indeed know this!! saying weed leads on to other things is a sweeping generalisation that is quite frankly an idiotic statement, what leads to weed ? smoking? what leads to alcohol? shandy? i dont see many smokers wanting to get stoned and looking for the next fix and i dont see many people who enjoy a drink pouring vodka on their cornflakes every morning or taking a tipple while in work! Truth is that some people have addictive traits that will lead them down the wrong road, its why some people are alcoholics and most are not,its why why some people are smokers and some move onto the stronger stuff, im very sorry to hear about your loss Ash, truely sorry and totally understand why this is a raw subject to you, i forgive your feelings on this topic but im afraid i disagree with the points you make, if children read this forum and discover a link to a guy rolling a joint its no different to them watching or seeing drugs glamourised in films such as lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels and pulp fiction, kids that are reading this forum then go off and probably surf the net for all kinds of weird and distasteful stuff anyway, there is after all only so much bullshit they can read on these forums..! Im not saying its right but at the same time its a harsh world, i would rather see kids read about it on a forum like this and witness the reaction of grown ups to it rather than it become a mystery that they need to discover with their friends after school or at a party etc, etc. To hide things away is what makes those things truely dangerous. If you tell a kid not to touch wet paint the first thing he will do when your back is turned is touch it! Maybe not a great analogy but im sure you get my drift. Smoking a spliff is probably on 90% of kids to do list, most will try it get totally stoned, fall over, giggle, eat loads of crisps and pop then throw up!! experiement over!! Its a dangerous thing to underestimate how sensible most kids are, they tend to know whats right from wrong and generally follow the rules in life. Most of us have probably experimented with the odd spliff, doesnt mean anything bad is going to happen. Ive not commented on Rubber balls latest outbursts but i fully support the guys on here that have had to put up with some of the **** he has spouted, i dont know what happened to the guy, he used to be an ok guy though i disagreed with many things he said he seemed to have a decent view on other things and would enjoy decent banter, people change i guess . Once again i must say that i feel for your situation Ash, you take a hardline on this subject thats clear to see, but addiction comes in many forms its not actually the product itself but more to do with the addictive make up of an induvidual. Thats at least my view on it anyway.
I respect your opinion Norway. Whilst I agree with some of it, fact is, I still think that sort of thing should be kept off a public forum. If people want to see a video on it, search for it, at least then you have a choice. As for talking about it, I'm fine with that, its the video that got me. P.s. a film that has drug use in, is normally a 15/18 certificate, therefore there's a choice as to wether you want to see it.
As you rightly point out, JA, you have a choice to see a film. This is just something any kid could have come across. I'm not saying it's the worse thing in the world, far from it, but a football forum ain't the place for it. There's an argument it should be deleted on grounds of irrelevance alone, without the other factors. This has always been aber's difficulty. Whereas we all move off footie from time to time his posts were almost always about anything other than footie!
Are we really saying that no 13yr kid watches movies other than PG rating, but are free to roam the internet ?? Anyway, a public forum it may be but as i said life in the public is sometimes unsavoury
Well if kids come on here, they'll be in good company!............... please log in to view this image
No Norway, I'm saying kids have a choice on the film they watch, as, based on the age rating they have, they know what to expect.
