Rather get the bad patch out the way before Christmas than after it. Barring SoD's dismal rein we've always been better past Christmas (and January) so to get it out the way this side would suit me. My concern is not about Pack but it was plain to see they lacked Elliott someone who is calm but also coaches the other players along. A true leader on the pitch sort of player.
I have been a champion of Pack as much as possible but he wasn't at it yesterday. He reminded me of the Pack that we all saw under O'Driscoll. he was all about siting in front of the back 4 and picking the ball up from players who are 5 yards away from him and trying to dictate play but it didn't work, Preston saw he was dallying on the ball and slowing play down and jumped on this, it gave them a foothold in the game. (a self inflicted one) Marlon we need you to be more positive! -- I was watching an O'driscoll performance yesterday and I don't want to see any more of them. Korey was very good again and his desire to win the game could be clearly seen, even from the back of the Dolman.
WHEN we go up (!) there will be 4 or 5 places in the side where upgrades will be necessary, and Pack/Elliott will be one such position where serious money will need to be spent. Which ever way I see it, Elliott is in his final playing season and Pack is a squad filler.
I agree- We need that creative midfield player that we have lacked for several years until now- Pack, for me is a decent enough player at League 2, but acts as more of a squad player for us and I don't see him as Championship material- That tells me that we need to plan now if we are serious about going up
'I have been a champion of Pack' - and me. He wasn't as bad as some are saying on here. Our problem yesterday was we made chances but couldn't finish. Wilbraham and Agard had poor games. If they'd scored and not missed early chances in each half nobody would be having a go at Pack. The game would have panned out totally different. Goals change games, as do referees decisions. The PNE bearded twat should have had a yellow for the challenge in front the Williams on Bryan and another yellow for blatant simulation in our box. Don't get me wrong, we missed Elliot big time, but let's not forget the chances we failed to put away yesterday.
Excluding Swindon which with the red card after 3 minutes left us trying to defend 0-0, in our last two games we have had lots of possession, plenty of goalward efforts but only a small percentage on target. Against Wimbledon we had eleven off target before we scored in last ten minutes. Yesterday the stats show seventeen shots/headers BUT ONLY FOUR ON TARGET. We have not been hammered by Swindon or PNE but we, at the moment, are our own worst enemies because we are not working the opposing goalkeeper often enough. And the poor passing from a couple of players yesterday, destroyed any momentum and pressure on their goal. I don't agree that PNE cheated in the way that Swindon clearly did. We are sometimes a bit naive against big strong and experienced players making us look rather silly. They simply out-muscled us in certain areas. And finally, I genuinely believe that the quality of football in League One is far better than even ten years ago, mostly due to the huge influx of overseas players in the Prem and Championship. But I really do despair at the quality, or more accurately, the lack of quality among the match officials. So many glaring mistakes are made affecting both teams, and the total inconsistency from week to week is beginning to spoil most games.
I'm not blaming Pack for the defeat in any way shape or form. I was just hoping that someone on the fringes of the first team all season might have taken his chance and put in a commanding performance. I'm not blaming anyone it was a decent game between two sides who should be near the top come May. They scored we didn't, play it again tomorrow and it could be the other way round. These things happen in Football we just need to move on to the next game on Friday
Sat here reading the views it seems Cotts has got a bit of work to do before Friday. Ahh well at least we have sunshine down here after two days of bloody rain.nice to be sitting on a golden beach with warm blue waters.
I don't think so except maybe raise their spirits a bit. I don't think he needs to tinker with the formula despite those two defeats.
if you had shown me this table at the start of the season, I would have bitten your hand off, happy days.
Christ sake, we are top of the table, best side in our league to date, I'm a happy bunny where we are, lets see what happens.......Up the City...
Wolves in their quest last year just kept winning,a sign of true champions. We need to get back to winning ways quickly. We do not have that 5 point cusion any longer level playing field now.
We’d better get back to winning ways soon – I’m getting loads of stick up here….
But they didn't go undefeated they lost 5 games, plus they lost two on the bounce as well. Plus didn't go 16 games unbeaten. I get the feeling looking at the opening post of this thread you've been waiting to start raising doubts in the team, it must of been hell for you with us undefeated
