as i say, i'm glad the goal didn't count because it would have been a horrible way of winning a game, just as diving to win a penalty is a horrible way of winning a game. however, a penalty earned through a dive still stands and this 'goal' also should have counted. in this case he didn't 'cheat', he was unsporting. to some this may mean the same thing and that's why we get crossed wires - others see time wasting as usportsmanlike. the end result (the goal not counting) has done both teams a favour, even if it was incorrect to rule it out, especially for the reasons given by the referee who up till that point had had a good game, unusually for mr jones!

The MOTD clip has cut some out, but it looks like Tettey was still on the floor when Marshy kicked the ball out?

In fact, when it shows a replay from the far end of the pitch of the throw being taken, Tettey is only just jogging back into position. So Marshy was right to put the ball out of play?

EDIT: I don't disagree that the goal should have stood though, but then you'd expect Norwich to let us walk down the other end and score. Saying that however, I've seen the comments from the player and manager, and some of the fans and I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped that.

I think the main problem was that there was more time-wasting by Cardiff than I've seen any other team do in the Prem. I understood Mourinho's beef.

    Quid pro quo.

That's what happened according to a Norwich fan!! Neither us nor Norwich fans will provide an unbiased view on this (also includes jacks). What's the point in going round in circles, it's been done there's nothing anyone can say now that will change what happened. Think this topic needs to be put to bed and we need to agree to disagree :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sorry pal, but what has time wasting (something that every team does) got to do with a player not observing procedure and rolling the ball into their opponents net to win the game by "cheating" or whatever you choose to call it (something that only your team does)?

You can't deflect this particular incident by citing others which are commonplace amongst ALL teams just when it suits your argument.

The one thing I do agree with posted by Pyjamaman was that that the ref did everyone a favour by his action whether it was outside the rules of the game or not.

Also Nat - I agree with you. Time to put this to bed and move on (if we're allowed to!).

"Other teams do it" is no defence. It was by some margin the worst time-wasting I've seen, and we've been in the Prem for a couple of years where it was bad. It shouldn't happen at all, but it also shouldn't happen to that ridiculous extreme. It was quite appalling.

The link is that Marshall clearly kicked the ball out to waste more time. It was transparent.

I'm glad we didn't win in that manner, certainly wasn't deserved, but Fer was quite clearly frustrated by the abhorrent cheating going on by the entire Cardiff team from roughly the tenth minute. At least he had the good grace to hold up his hand and say, yeah, it wasn't good form, but I did it because I'm paid to help us win football matches so I was just trying to do my job. He didn't cheat, lie or anything like that. He just did something that wasn't good form and nothing came of it. By contrast the consistent cheating by Cardiff probably secured a point and yet they don't get punished for it, despite it being flagged by Mourinho in no uncertain terms.

Honesty - a policy I'd like to see with quite a few players, and fans.
