The best offside rule was the 'daylight rule'. Why did they ever get rid of that?

I don't really understand what this new "clarification" means.

Womans football has just got almost watchable now they've tinkered with the offside rule it could take them years to get to grips with it. :emoticon-0135-makeu

My great 'offside rule' moment was when I was listening to a bloke sounding off about the rule (he was a Pompey fan but that was just added spice) and I had to inform him that the 2 opposition players between the attacking player and the goal didn't have to include the goalkeeper. Usually included the goalkeeper, but didn't have to include him. He thought it was the GK + A.N.Other, so he thought a goal couldn't stand because the keeper was way out and the 2 defenders on the line didn't count. So men don't always get it either.

If you look closely Fran, you'll find why your example is not a good example of 'men' not knowing the offside rule.

Does anyone remember that overhead kick goal that Danny Higginbotham scored only for it to be offside as the goalkeeper was off his line. Was it against Portsmouth, cannot remember...

Question.
Tonight, from a short corner routine, JWP passed to Mane, Mane back to JWP, who then played the ball back towards our goal.
Mane came back from an offside position to collect the pass and was then flagged offside.
I thought you could only be offside from a forward pass.
Have I got it wrong or was it the Lino?

The Lino got it wrong. Evidence that show they haven't got a scooby doo at any level. Last kid picked in the play ground ends up ref. kids that weren't even allowed on the play ground end up on the line. It's the law of the playground that is the training ground for officials.

Asked the same question in the match thread when it happened and came here as I didnt get a reply :) Maybe the rules are different from what I understood?

Another change to rules (or perhaps interpretation) is that clubs will be in trouble if two players approach the ref, don't move away when told to do so, or follow the ref as he attempts to walk away. (Obviously this will never apply to ManU who are licensed to surround the ref, shoulder charge him and chase him across the field....or did that licence expire when Ferguson left).
Also a player who exaggerates contact to get another player booked or sent off will face retrospective disciplinary action.

And Chelsea Fran, their players were embarrassing last season at times.
