It's all about size and the shinyness of the new helmets. The Skull is supposed to look scarier too. Check out this wonderment. It's Chromy.
Helmets aren't bad. Markedly better than the "Melted Rolo" Jags helmets. The skull definitely looks angrier, I suppose he's been watching the last few seasons so it's only natural!
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/21/sources-browns-nearly-traded-for-jim-harbaugh/ Oh, Cleveland.
New Bucs uniform, again FAO Mr Meowth. please log in to view this image I actually quite like it, I'm a fan of modern stuff like that. And the home jersey: please log in to view this image
Dreaded dots again! Thanks Dan, I like the white one, but as soon as I saw them both, I thought if you saw them only from shoulders up, you'd be thinking Cleveland. I guess they have kept the pewter and red theme with a little nod to the good old orange days.
Michael Bennett looks like he's gonna test free agency. I thought the Seahawks would be able to keep him and cut Clemons/Miller, but alas he's no doubt gonna end up somewhere else
Anyone know much about how cap space works? Vikings have cut Carlson, Guion and Childs and now have close to $40 mil cap space, which seems to be loads. Could be gearing up for a couple of big moves in FA. Gutted for Childs that he was cut, tore the same ligament in both knees and usually just doing one is a career ender, but managed to stay around and get back into the practice squad. Every interview I've seen and from his twitter he seems like a good guy with a ridiculous work ethic and I hope he manages to find a team, although it looks very unlikely. Also the story about him and Jarius Wright is pretty mental, would've been great to have seen them both on the field for the Vikings at the same time.
Well, it seems Matt Cassel is re-signing for the Vikings. Still don't think he's as bad as some people say, though if we could find another quarter-back to be first choice, that would be preferable methinks. Also, Marcus Sherels has been re-signed. The first two pieces in a Superbowl-winning puzzle
I had to chuckle when I read AP's tweet about Vick turning the Vikings into a Super Bowl team. It's going to take a lot more than that!! They have to overcome the Packers and win the Divison. Cos I can't see them taking a wild card spot!
Quite happy with the Cassel signing, he wasn't terrible last year and would be fine with him as starter for a year while a rookie has a year to sit and learn. Vikings averaged something like 24 points a game with him last season, which should be enough to win a fair few games with a competent D which I am hoping is the main focus for the FA and draft. Also the only QB on the roster before this was Ponder, so we needed to get one in FA and the draft and looking at the FA list I would put Cassel as one of the best ones there, which shows how poor the other options are. If they have re-signed Cassel and now won't be targeting a QB in the first 2 rounds of the draft I may change my tune though.
Well, according to Andrew Koch of Isportweb, Cassel will likely be a starting quarterback. http://isportsweb.com/2014/03/09/ma...ota-vikings-starting-quarterback-next-season/ I suppose on the face off it, our problems last season were mostly defensive. In most games we managed to put a reasonably high score on the board. Meanwhile, rumours are that we're gonna to trade Ponder to either the Browns, Jets, Raiders or Texans: http://www.sportsworldreport.com/ar...xans-options-after-matt-cassel-signs-deal.htm While I do miss the NFL, all these rumours and signings and so on are certainly interesting/exciting!
If he starts for the year then the season probably won't be worth paying attention to. Would feel bad for Peterson too, running backs don't have very long shelf lives and I don't want to see another one of his years wasted. Best to hope one of JFF, Bortles and Teddy falls to you.
As much as that would be great, I can't see it happening. Admittedly I don't watch any college football and just have clips from games to go on, but the general opinion seems very mixed on JFF so would prefer we took a defensve star rather than him even if he was available at 8. The last 2 drafts Vikes have traded back into the bottom of the first (pick 29 both times) to get Harrison Smith and Cordarelle Patterson respectively, so seem to have a good strike rate there. Hoping they take someone like Khalil Mack at 8 then trade back up and get Jimmy Garopololo as I'm unsure whether he lasts until their 2nd round pick.
