    I finer piece of perspex you're unlikely to see again in your lifetime!

    Normally you'd get lads drinking champagne out of the FA cup etc. What would they do with this thing? Serve an antipasto platter on it?

    IIRC we were one of three 'winners' of the Intertoto cup that year.

    No, we won. We just weren't playing at the time.

    The intertoto only ever narrowed it down as far as, I think, 4 teams who never played each other. No winner was ever selected. In our glory year they changed the rules to say that the team that made it farthest in the Uefa Cup (as it then was) would be the winner of the intertoto. On morning we woke up to learn that someone had knocked our nearest competitor out and that we had become champions as we slept.
