So gutting. Proud but hopefully we are just scratching the surface with what we can do and glad I am adding a helping hand to our future generations. <ok>

I have to say from this world cup that while teams are evenly matched the disappointing knock out stage has crystallised a big issue in my mind.

In short; "creative" players are not in short supply, but of a type. Watchnig messi stand about while his team is negated totally and then seeing hazard v the USA, Oscar, and the list goes on and on.... They all play a role too far forward to really create.

In other words this world cup signals the demise of the truely creative midfielder... Pirlo.... Xavi.... alonso... its very rare to find a guy sitting in and around the centre circle moving about demanding the ball and starting the plays creatively. We see donkeys like the argentina and belgium CMs instead.

The really special players have vanished... whats happened to make this occur!

england cried out for a paul scholes for years, he got the hump and turned his back on his country, gerrard is not this player, he will stand there static beside an opponent while the cbs look for a pass. you have to demand the ball all the time, move thsoe 5-10 yards to make it happen. Pirlo is ancient but still italy's only player. Spain fell apart totally and xavi was dropped, didn't make the slightest improvement to them to take him out.

Brazil have not made a singel player like this in the 25 odd years i've watched them.

I would like to see a player like coutinho embrace the true midfield role that rodgers dropped him into on occasion and use those god given talents of his to create from deep.

Honestly the thought of a midfield of henderson, gerrard and lallana is slightly depressing. Not because its worse than anyone elses but rather I feel it lacks the same thing most teams do and i don't see anyone out there who is a reflection of this type of role.

Developed into a belter of a game and a tense watch.

The US need to find one or two forwards who can finish the creative work of the midfield.

    Easier said than done

You need to read MITO's bit, RHC. <doh>

Basically, I was implying that we needn't have a 'playmaker', if it works so well for Brazil. They've won WC's without one, if you agree with MITO's thesis.

Man Utd had 4 playmakers last season and did **** all

Gerrard will not be replaced by a single player as our style is more based on passing, pressing and movement than always getting the ball to one person who will play the killer pass

Mexico played great team football but lacked some quality to finish things off

BBC Salford giving one of its local sons a chance to redeem himself after the worst and most boring co-commentary in world cup history.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28101598

"It was straight after the game that I found out the reaction to it all. I went on social media and it was pretty brutal.
I understand why - it was an England game, late on a Saturday night back home, and emotions were running high. And, doing that job, I am there to be shot at"

No mate it was your boring droning manc accent that was the problem.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If your older brother has been given all the looks, footballing talent, intelligence and charisma, and that older is Gary Neville, you have been dealt a very cruel hand by fate! <ok>

And PN was awful. Boring, nasal, passionless and with all the footballing insight of a yoghurt. He's also a manc', which doesn't help his cause.

Aside from everything he said and how he said it and who he is and what he's done, no complaints
