Lovren would be a fantastic signing. Young, talented and quite a bit of experience for his age. Similar to Coutinho in that respect. Rami's also a good defender. I'd be happy if we got those two this summer to replace Carra and Coates. But that would probably mean Kelly or Wisdom wouldn't get much of an opportunity.

Unfortunately, I don't think Rodgers is looking beyond Williams, so hopefully the new scouting team or whatever they call themselves these are looking further afield. Some bargains to be had from the likes of Bilbao and Valencia.

Sevilla, Valencia, Malaga, Athletico Madrid I would have a serious look at and see what some of those players might want.

HBA's too much of a gamble at the price wanted. He's injured constantly. We need to look elsewhere

People thought bad of Agger, Gerrard, Enrique and Johnson's injury records to, but they havnt been issues at all. Rodgers manages players fitness differently.

Obviously HBA will have a medical, and Rodgers will have a good think. He wont sign him if he doesnt feel he can manage HBA's fitness. But I dont think we should just write him off.

  8. If we sign him his name would be in every pre-match report...INJURED!

And that's fair enough for players we have already...but not to go spend 25 mill on someone like that

  10. Agreed, especially since he is at Newcastle and they will try to fleece us! Now, there will be two responses to this comment...

    1) It will be a swap deal involving Andy Carroll; and

    2) We have done wonders for the injury records of Agger, Gerrard, Johnson, etc.

...both of which I lean towards not agreeing.

Swap deals should be looked at as two separate deals. If we expect £15m for Carroll, would we be willing to pay £15m for HBA? I wouldn't, I'd only be happy to sign him (ignoring point two at the minute) if we were to get him for about £7m-£8m, would we be happy selling Andy for this? No! Therefore, IMO we should be looking for £7m-£8m as well as HBA for Carroll, that is not going to happen!

Coping with injuries as been brilliant this season but it comes at a cost. They way BR and his team have managed to keep players on the pitch is through providing the injury prone players with plenty of rest and recovery time. Rather than miss a game, the train less. Surely this can't be good for BR and getting things on the pitch right? Adding another player that needs rest and recuperation time isn't going to help that!

Are Bilbao not notoriously hard to buy from due to their Spanish/area only policy?

Lots of odd rumours today. the type you have to reckon are just page fillers as the hacks prepare for silly season.

    1. Monaco to bid for carroll? surely an extension of the falcao rumour mill if falcao goes elswhere but it is rather odd

    2. West ham want carroll asap. Why? the pirce will only go down but i suppose this is just a logical extension of newkie surviving.

    3. Eriksen will reject any lfc offer and stay with ajax if we don't bid in the next month... rather odd seeing dortmund rumour is so strong as well.. also rather arbitrary in my mind. Ajax and eriksen have said there's no contract coming.

I hope the Carroll one is right. Only problem would be if Carroll would actually want to go though. We'd be able to get up towards £20mil for him based on Monaco being the new PSG.

Don't believe the Eriksen one. Widely thought of that he'd go to Dortmund and even if he doesn't he obviously wants to move on and signing a new contract will only mean he has less power to mvoe on next season if no one comes in for him this season.

if monaco offer him some mad money he'll take it. the real truth is carroll could have fought for a slot under rodgers but he ran off for easier football at west ham. that indicates to me he'll go where ever a good offer comes from. If we got 20mil off these guys as well.... i just think is a strange one form nowhere so i'll be eager to hear from RHC on it.

Eriksen certainyl said he was not signing and there's no way he's staying there.

Some one said in the match thread that if Reina leaves we will offer Stoke Downing for Begovic.

Downing and Adam in one midfield. Got us to 8th place. Stoke would love that. :1980_boogie_down:

Hope we manage to find a CB that is really intelligent & good in the air for next season.

Diego Godin maybe? Keeps Suarez happy but hard to see him leaving an Atletico side doing so well. There's got to be someone for under 10m out there for us at cb. I simply won't believe the excuses if we fail to find a suitable partner for Agger, they've known for so long that Carra is packing it in so plenty of time to find an adequate replacement.

Skrtel was the original Carra replacement.

Liverpool could make a move for Tottenham defender Danny Rose, 22, who has spent the season on loan at Sunderland.
