    hilarious lies.

  3. I agree, but if we are interested in him then why would Everton showing an interest be unrealistic? Same geographical area, finished above us two years running, wages probably won't be too dissimilar after all our cut backs, they'll have cash from selling Felliani and possibly Baines too.

Because 6th for Everton is great and 7th for Liverpool is disappointing?

    #1824
  5. Do you think Everton will see sixth as the pinnacle and not try to improve on it?

I think they know they're overachieving based on their resources. There's a glass ceiling which you need consistent funding to break.

    #1826
  7. Overachieving or not, surely they will still look to improve? The only way you can improve is by signing better players. You can only field eleven players each so one major player can make a very big impact, aka Bale <ok>

Edit: I'm not saying I think Everton are in a better position to sign someone like Eriksen, I am saying it is not unrealistic for them to be interested in similar players to us <ok>

I'm sure they'd love to do that but I'm sure BK knows the reality of Everton's situation.

Also, what happened to the FIFA thread? Can't seem to find it on the search function.

  9. It got merged (Bluff) with the computer game thread which then sank. The computer game thread that pops up every now and again is a different/new one.

PS...who was you before 'Belfast Red' then as I don't recall you on the fifa thread?

We can create a summer one after the weekend and try to work out our own summer signings on it!

  11. Oh yeah, forgot to say that we'd agreed to wait until the new version rather than recreate the old thread <ok>

RE Everton, they aren't in a position to move on and haven't been in that position for a long time. They never keep their players. Even this summer their best players will move on and they'll have to replace them, rebuild, new manager and start again next season.

The summer after, they'll lose another few players, rebuild and go again.

They will not break beyond 6th/7th without either a change in ownership, or a change in the mentality of their players who decide to give the club a full opportunity to progress rather than jump ship.

So basically, they'll see 6th as fantastic and hope to replicate it next year. Especially this year with Moyes leaving.

  13. Again, I agree but I refer to my latter comment in post #1827:

This conversation started by me responding to MITO's "hilarious lies" (#1822). I don't think it is a unrealistic report from Talksport that Everton are interested in Eriksen. However, the likelihood of them actually signing a player like Eriksen is somewhat questionable. I think it is highly unlikely that we will sign him either.

Of course they'll be interested in Eriksen. Just like we'd be interested in Messi if he said he was leaving this summer...doesn't mean we'd have a hope in hell of getting him though, there are just simply better clubs in a much better position than them <ok>

I do include Liverpool in those clubs though, because despite finishing below them, I feel we're in a better position to progress and push higher in the next season which makes us a more attractive club. I feel Everton are peaking at 5th/6th whereas we could push onto 4th in a season or two...probably two.

I don't say this through some 'bitter red glasses' either, I would love to see Everton and Liverpool competing for titles like the two Manc clubs currently do. I just hope we both get there the proper way - not like those **** plastic clubs Chavski or City. And currently, our future prospects are, imo better than Evertons.

I think that was a reply to your post, or might have just been random ramblings on the topic. Who knows!

  15. that was my point, there is a difference between being interested and actually signing someone <ok>

Personally, I think we had a chance of getting Eriksen but not now. He is Dortmund bound as Gotze's replacement <ok>

I seriously hope the so called "ITK" on Twitter are talking bollocks..
I don't want anything to do with McManaman!
Eriksen, would love to see that happen, but I doubt it!
I don't care who we buy as long as they turn out to be 3/4 Ford Cortina's!

  17. I can't make my mind up about Macca. When I have watched him he has impressed me, he is tricky but also works hard. However, he it very early days in his career. I'd be hesitant had he played just one full season since we have been stung a few times (Adam, Carroll, etc). I would have preferred to leave him at Wigan and see how he does but they've been relegated and I think he needs Premier League football.

I don't think we should be signing him now because, as I said above, he needs to play to develop and we need players for the now.

Right before he went to Madrid he was once of the best CB's Spain had to offer. A fresh start, loads of experience, won a lot international and club. Would gamble on that.

  19. Someone posted this a day or two ago. I responded by saying I thought he was the wrong side of thirty but was surprised that he was still only 27. If he is available and we have a chance then I'd take him over the likes of Ashley Williams (let's face it, anyone named Williams is clearly a **** <whistle>) every day of the week!

Agreed. Gourcuff is still out there and if we could revive him, we would have some AM on our hands. Could easily step into Gerrards shoes after he is done as well ( again if we can get the old Gorcuff back).
