Reports emanating from Italy have claimed the Serie A club are lining up a summer move for the former Roma forward.

Borini, who only joined Liverpool last summer, has endured a frustrating first season at Anfield with a series of injuries restricting his first-team chances, with a shoulder problem set to keep him out for the closing weeks.

The forward's agent, Marco de Marchi, insists he has not had any contact with Fiorentina and that Borini remains committed to Liverpool.

"I've heard the Fiorentina rumours, but there has been no direct contact," said De Marchi.

"Fiorentina are a club on the launch pad, they have laid the groundwork for an important project by signing great players and results will soon arrive.

"However, Borini has bought into the Liverpool project and they are one of the most important clubs in the world.

"He wants to be back by the end of the season to play in the European Under 21 Championship with Italy."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is pushing to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Daily Express says the Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker has been in superlative form this season and has come into view for Tottenham, as Andre Villas-Boas is preparing for the worst case scenario if Gareth Bale leaves.

The Reds are willing to let Martin Skrtel, who has attracted interest from Anzhi and Zenit St Petersburg, leave in order to facilitate a move for Mkhitaryan who could fetch up to £10m.

Skrtel's agent Karol Ksonto was coy about his client's Liverpool future and suggested that the situation will be resolved at the end of the season.

Mkhitaryan is viewed as a possible successor to Steven Gerrard, who has been one of Liverpool's most consistent performers again this season.

 

We already have Gerrards successor... his name is Coutinho.

We wont have a Gerrard successor. Gerrard is some thing special. No one should have the pressure of successing him. Some one else will establish themselves and make there own legacy.

 

People said we wouldn't find the next John Barnes but then Downing came along...

We'll find the next Gerrard soon enough.
