  1. He had 17 before 8. He had 28 (I think?) before that.

I think the England thing has been since he was handed the number nine shirt, he wasn't happy about it because he's not a striker. Before that he had wore 7, 10 and 11 <ok>

gerrard... 17? hmmmm it'll have to be looked up i guess....

gerrard specifically took 4 and that was saying where he played and even when he was stuck wide left i think he wore 4.

no 25 is only worn by true anfield greats????
    ruddock, biscan and... pepe reina.

no 17 is a heavyweight number... mcmanaman, gerrard, ince, arbeloa, maxi and bleemamy wore it but most of all the mighty josemi graced the field wearing this shirt.

  6. In my younger days, I wore 17 myself because of the likes of Macca and Gerrard, hence me knowing <laugh>

He did wear 28 too <diva>

    67, Jeez.

I thought Brad got the no.1 because he's a 'keeper and Reina wanted to keep his lucky number.
These days squad numbers are just numbers and nothing more, unless they have some sentimental significance to either the player or the club.

Haven't they given it to Zaha <laugh>

And Ronaldo would take that straight back no questions or answers necessary

???? I know we were linked awhile ago but I thought we turned our attention to Llori? What happened with De Vrij and Martins?

  13. Can't take a shirt number off a player if it is part of their contract unless they re-negotiate the existing players deal and make it worthwhile or move that player on.

There's maybe 3 or 4 numbers which mean something at clubs; number 1 (unless the keeper prefers another, like Reina), number 7 for alot of clubs has history although sometimes 11 equally so, 9 has typically been the star striker and the 10 shirt. The rest are garbage who no one cares about. Any striker coming to a PL team and being given the number 9 will feel a bit of pride and expectation if they follow English football.

I hope Aspas steps up - I think he'll do well.

    Here's something I found... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...665/Premier-League-Summer-Transfers-2013.html

I haven't been keeping up to date with our transfers as much as the rest of you but I think I might have noticed us selling Carlos Tevez for £10M!
