From youtube (lol...) at least, he reminds me of Coutinho. Great close control and an eye for a pass. If he turns up to be even half the player for the reported price we're interested at, he'd be worth it.

who really knows.. seville lent him to barca for barca to look at and decide if they want to buy.... if they don't buy that might or might not say something. He's back at seville who want to see on... what does that say?

    who knows.

inter messed up on coutinho cos they wanted paulinho and took the cash.... if both barca and seville are wrong fordifferent reasons great... but who knows until he's bought and plays and shows what he can do. the transfer committee are looking for "value" so will be be top 4? I dunno i just hope they do cos 8mil here and 8mil thre is better in my mind that 20mil on downing and 35 of carroll when everyone knew they were not good enough....

Barca and Seville need to sell players to be able to either pay off debt payments or to afford new signings (like Neymar). Just because they dont' want to spend 8million on a young player doesn't mean he's not good enough, just means Barca want ready made top players to compete against Real and Europe and Sev need to balance some books.

there is that but barca put the kid in their reserves for a year and decided he's not up to thier first team. that no shame... they could have someone better who knows. seville want shut... again could be money or could be contract i have no idea. i'm not going to get excited cos mr balange spouts on about the guy. i'll wait to see him play... and then make an instant call... it really only takes a game or two to know what a player can do or where potential is. but until he signs and plays i've no need to hunt for it... if his fee was 20mil i'd want to know mind ;)

These were his stats last season apparently:

    37 games (32 Starts) - 11 Goals - 17 Assists

Seems decent that. Probably worth a go for the £6m fee or whatever it is.

I agree with this, them sort of stats at his age are good, even if it in the spanish second division. Zaha had worse stats and Man Utd splashed out 20m for him <ok> Of course it's a gamble, but he looks a decent player. Will just have to see how it pans out.

here's a different way to think on it.

do you buy tom ince for 6mil or 8mil or whatever or alberto for 8mil?

I know that tom ince is raheem sterling but not as good.... so is alberto more of a suso or coutinho. 37 games in the spanish equivilant of the championship..... who knows. are we just losing suso's development I dunno... who many 20 year olds can we accomodate?

After not hearing much over the past week or so, Spanish media are reporting that the Barca B standout--on loan from Sevilla--has taken a huge step towards becoming a Liverpool player

With few developments during the week other than the slight mix-up on the Iago Aspas deal, Liverpool's hot start to the transfer window has seemed to cool a bit. Which doesn't really make any sense given that the window doesn't even open for another few weeks, but I want all the signings NOW! So it's good news that the club might be headed in that direction very shortly with a name we discussed last week, with Mundo Deportivo (and the Google Translate Spanish to English button) reporting that Luis Alberto has agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

All that's left now is for the two clubs to agree on a fee, and so long as Barcelona don't exercise whatever sort of clause was available to them after they took the youngster on loan for their B squad this past season. I haven't been able to find much about Barca's interest, but I'd imagine after the season he put together, they'd at least make some sort of effort to keep him around.

The deal with Liverpool is apparently for four years, and while he's not a player for now (or at least I don't think he is just yet), he's someone who's not far off of first-team football at the highest level. It'll be interesting to see how he's handled if and when he does arrive, as there's a host of young, attack-minded midfielders at the club who'll be fighting for places in the senior setup. That's not a bad thing, of course, and his presence will hopefully benefit both him and his new teammates.

we don't need to worry about that for now surely?

if we are getting a few players we have been linked with in, there's a few players who could be on the move.

Skrtl,Shelvey,Suso(loan maybe)Carroll (please someone take him) Tex i don't think we need to worry about for now, he is quite young isnt he, Sterling is the immediate worry as he needs game time, or he may look elsewhere.

He's rated highly by the staff at LFC and is believed to be getting a few chances in the next season to see what he can do, along with Ibe, McLoughlin and Jones. I see Texeira as playing a little deeper than Alberto. Infact, I would almost say Alberto would be playing a similar role to Coutinho, one either side of Sturridge with the Arminian guy Mikhahkaksngraasdf (can't spell his name at all) through the middle.

Genuinely excited by the number of youth coming through in the next year or two.

Suso and Sterling are both likely to be out on loan this year, which'll be great for them also.

Sterling will not go on loan. I expect him to play for us a lot next season.

Tex is 20... he is older than most think. that back injury put him behind.

for me there's a few points here.

    1. suso. loan for sure. its needed. he's a genuine two footed talent that needs to find a position and show something now.

    2. sterling and ibe. what do you do with those talents? i have to say it's going to be a huge challenge to bring them both on.

    3. coutinho = no 10. thats middle behind a front man... is alberto that or is he a left sided/right sided player. IS alberto to take downing out?

    4. Aspas, where will he play then?

    5. think about squad shape, are we getting overloaded with similar players and not on other key areas?

i am guessing we are getting better options to come off the bench rather than players like Shelvey Downing etc who don't add much if anything.

doesn't Brendan like his players to be able play in more than one position, so should imagine they can swap sides, positions etc when told to.

Luis Alberto will probably replace Shelvey - remember Shelvey was most often a second striker or winger this season. He fits us better than Shelvey, and we'll probably profit out of the 'swap', too.

Aspas will play wide right, cutting in. His competition is therefore Downing, Suso, Sterling...

We have a serious interest in Mkhitaryan, as well as likely bringing in Aspas, Alberto - already having Sturridge, Coutinho and Borini. Aspas and Alberto are coming in regardless of Suarez. Mkhitaryan would be a replacement for Luis though, most likely given how much he'd cost.

Sterling is along way from being ready. He's got bags of pace and potential, but has alot to learn and needs to toughen up alot too.

Loaning him and Suso out would still give us a front 6 from Gerrard/Lucas/Hendo/Allen/Coutinho/Aspas/Alberto/Sturridge/Borini/Suarez or Mkhitaryan. You've still got Downing floating around who might be sold and replaced, or (hopefully not) kept

Look at it another way; Aspas replaces Assaidi (selling), Alberto replaces Shelvey (possibly selling), no one's replacing Carroll atm so we might yet buy another forward as we look light in the centre if Suarez or Studge get injured. Then look at the midfield, four contenders and no real strength in there, so another midfielder might still be an option like Diame.

A loan would be best - his chances are going to be severely limited this season and he needs alot of game time to keep progressing. He only got the games last season because we lacked so much depth in the squad - which is also why he was burnt out by November.

yeah, i suppose cashing in on shelvey who will neve rbe the midfield player we need is a good plan then. aspas was coming in but is there a hitch due to suarez, who knows... if aspas plays wide right then i'd hope we are looking at having actual options... the thing rafa never had was options. he'd have one sub on on 67mins and once crouch left and he alienated keane we had one forward. having options helps always.

you are right about the midfield area though... we can say the same at the back.

No of those add the direct pace and option of width that Sterling adds though.

Rodgers was actually asked a while back about this and said Sterling was a big part of his plans for next season.
