    Robben is a no go:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/22810350

Netherlands winger Arjen Robben plans to remain at Bayern Munich next season.

"My plan is to stay (at Bayern) where I'm enjoying myself and am under contract until 2015," Robben told Bild. "Leaving is not an issue at the moment. There's no reason."

Anyone worried a bit about Arsenal? Seems the stadium is paid off and they might actually have a load of cash to spend. If so, they could be right back up there competing soon, all reports point to them having the cash now and don't need to sell.

Regardless, Wenger did well keeping them top 4. Can't help but think we should have been much closer to doing that, losing stars and all.

I'll only be worried IF the money is spent right. QPR have proved money is not everything, nor is high wages. Anyhow, with that all said I am worried. Wenger is a very good manager, and very underrated (these days anyhow). They bought Cazorla for what.. 15m? More of them type signings and they could find themselves back at the top end of the table.

Not really, leagues above us with the rest of the top 4. Still don't expect them to spend big though.
If they get Rooney it would be funny. RVP to utd to replace him and Arsenal get the left overs.

I know people have a go at Wenger and Arsenal for fourth is a trophy but he did unreal keeping them in the top four after every single year having to sell their best player ( seems to get the stadium paid off quickly). Now that they have weathered that storm, they are loaded, and all profits can go to the team and not paying that monster stadium off. Could be dangerous.

We have to be within touching distance of 4th this year, really need to show we are at the door of the top 4 and at least looking to push through.

Agree with all of the above. Though the last two years have been mainly due to Spurs completely bottling it at the latter stage of the season.

The thing is, Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd are streets above anyone in the league. Them three teams don't have to worry about losing their top players, and are in a position where they can invest and only get better. Like Chelsea, finished sixth the season before last and it hardly got highlighted. Why? Well obviously they one the CL, but mainly due to everyone knowing they can reinvest and get right up their the next season.

Right now them three have a massive stranglehold, and it's difficult to see where a challenge from either Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and ourselves can come from without some serious investment, and having to deal with losing some of our best players (Modric, Van Persie, Suarez etc.). I think for ourselves, we should go in to the season with a point target, and go for it and not worry about who's around us, just aim for the target and play by the odds.

It would be nice if somehow the 3 of us ( Arsenal,Spurs, LFC) either buy correctly r invest and really make that top 7 interesting and interchanging. Everton could be there but Martinez will have a lot to prove and could lose his best players.

Buying correctly is definitely the key. How much did we spend last Summer, 30m or so? I'd argue that we didn't strengthen at all. Then the next window we spend 20m on two players and became a completely different outfit. This is what gives me a tiny bit of hope, 7.7m for Aspas could be a decent bit of business, spoke to a few people who keep an eye on the Spanish league and they rate him very highly, which bodes well. Can't help but think we need a "marquee" signing for the intent factor.

I reckon Martinez will surprise a few people, Everton have a solid defence, if he keeps the basics of that and builds on it they could move up a level.

and even as ****ty as we bought, we scored a load more goals right? I think we were up there in the top 5 for goals scored? Think we need to sort out the back a bit more than we have. Toure is a start, experience and a winner, but think we need another CB and a LB/LW that can do both roles ( coentrao, marcelo, alex sandro, vargas, zuniga, etc).

Real Madrid have confirmed that Xabi Alonso has undergone a groin operation in Munich, but should be back in time to begin next season.

Got better and better as the season went on which is encouraging, certainly a lot more goals, even when Suarez was out. <ok>

Would definitely take Papa, just the sort of player we need. Wasn't aware of his injurys though which makes me a bit more hesitant. Coentrao has said he wants leave Madrid but I very much doubt he'd every come to us unfortunately. Was thinking about this the other day, but would you potentially want a new RB? Johnson would be excellent cover but he can be so hit and miss, and quite frankly he ended the season very poorly.
