i do agree you won't but nobody marches for anything these days unless they are kooks.

The point is if the club has standards they don't buy trouble. I think dalglsih walked himself into the sack over suarez as his comments were cringeworthy and unbecoming the guy we know he is no matter how angry he might be over two faced pc critics and rivals etc.

I think if we really look round the gorunds most have these standards. I mean ok how many have tried and forgiven gascoigne or barton and such but they all get burned in the end so having the standards not only protects the clubs rep but works i nthe long run.

Barton is convinced if he'd been round qpr would have stayed up.... but thats him being a chump. QPR got relegated for stupidity on the money front and a terrible manager. who wants barton?

now lets be fair. zidane was a tough nut but his attack was provoked and a one off. cantona's was too. cantona never did the like before or after. contrast then to suarez who's bit two guys and is a constant wind up merchant, diver and all round ticking timebomb. in short both suarez and Barton have long and serious records of bad behaviour.

I think you are right if utd bought suarez and he knocked in 30 goals there would be a small minority still hating him but most would be cheering.

Look at di canio... mad, ref assaulting, nazi saluting, crazy so and so who punched a player of his. the english press did a white wash for him after he catches a ball. surely him playing fair once doesn't outweigh the rest? but is seems to ven though the sunderland fans don't want the clown... long term they are up **** creek there.

Look at gascoigne. how many people have to apologise for him wasting the biggest talent in english football certainly of his generation? how many times do we have to forgive him drinking himself to the grave or beating his wife etc etc... why does he get press jobs, tv jobs, free treatment etc.

There are for sure people ready to forgive anything....

15 for begovic would be ridiculous yet again.
Reina may stay, but if he goes it will be less than that.

OUt of nowhere, but a lot of people say he has a bright future. Problem is we have Suso, COutinho, Nacho, Teixeira, all young who can play there.

  6. How come JR was so much more than JM? I thought it would be the other way around.

    PS...that's about £30m and £19m isn't it?

good for monaco and the selling clubs. silly money and easy to throw about but in the end you are a small club in a small league.... tax tax tax... the russian clubs did the same and the likes of samba went. these fashionable names are going for the seas side. thats all.

Anyone going there lacks real ambition IMO. I think we'll have to pick a few pockets as a result.

  8. Unlike Russia, I think the French league has the potential to become a top league. Its arguably fifth at the minute behind England, Spain, Germany and Italy (in no particular order)

Monaco for a period where big in the CL and one of the better clubs. I certainly would love to live in Monaco with tht sort of money. Think due to tax that they are kind of forced to spend so much as you say but still, tough seeing good players go for money and not trophies. ( trophies are by no means guarenteed with PSG money in the french league along with Lyon, Marseille, still in the mix).

Yes, I know at one point JR was very hot and was being looked at by everyone but fell off. Same really with Moutinho but it is Porto and they have made some 230 billion dollars after allt he players, coaches, staff, etc they have sold over the years.

Add depth to the back, could play as a winger as well, plenty of experience, young..... price??

LA LIGA: #Coentrão has felt 'not wanted' at @RealMadrid since he joined the club and might leave

Isn't Monaco a tax haven?!? Anyway, living in the south of France on big money, not a bad league. Can't go wrong really.

Downing would be seen as a star player at Stoke. With it the pressures and Crouch and Jones to aim at he could re-find himself.

    Straight swap :emoticon-0116-evilg

In all seriousness though, how much would everyone be happy selling Downing for?

Considering Carroll will be about £15m and I thought I would be happy with about £12m. Still a huge loss
Downing, I would sell for about £7m, another big loss.

mathew etherington is too much competition for downing.

plus downing's game is about back passes not long hoofs. I don't think he can take a long ball in or kick it that far himself.

    ........

on fee. I would sell him at his age for 10-12mil if i could at all get it. in reality i'd be selling immediately so really it could be 7 or 8 s you say. who's got the money for him is the question.

  19. Neymar will take his time to make a decision about his future after Santos accepted two offers for the Brazil forward.

The Brazilian side confirmed on Friday they had accepted two bids for the 21-year-old, widely thought to be from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

But after a meeting between club officials, Neymar and the player's father, no immediate decision was reached.

A statement from the club read: "In a meeting with representatives of the management committee of Santos FC, striker Neymar Jr was made aware of the offers received by the club and he will analyse them in the coming days before making a final decision."

Neymar admitted he was flattered by the interest in his services, but that he will not rush into making a decision on his future.

"This is an honour, the happiest moment in my life," Neymar told Globo Esporte. "I will now think about these two proposals.

"I will decide with my family. There's no hurry. Decision can be made in five minutes, half an hour, or three days."

Neymar's father, Neymar da Silva Santos, reiterated that his son will take his time over where to continue his career.

"No decision has been made. We will go home, sit down and talk," said Neymar's father.

"We can't decide in the heat of the moment. We'll see what Neymar wants."

Santos' vice-president Odilio Rodrigues claims the two offers are are both of similar value, but revealed Neymar has had a verbal agreement with Barcelona for some time about moving to Camp Nou.

"The offers are similar, but it's true Neymar already has a gentleman's agreement with Barcelona for a while," said Rodrigues.
