FFP's got to be a joke. How are they ever going to even break even.

I just don't get why these young players with such potential join second rate leagues when they could do so much better. Barca and Utd were also chasing Marquinhos and yet opts to join the french league. But ofcousrse a 30million bid is going to blow any team off the park.

Agreed I hate United as much as the next man, but to be fair they do pull in shed loads of cash. So can understand clubs like them spending big. But the sugar daddy clubs are starting to take the piss

  4. Although I agree in principal, I think the French league will grow over the coming years <ok>

    One word - Money.

No doubt this kid is getting £100k a week at the age of 19 and is now set for life. Can you blame teenagers going to a club who are willing to give you a ridiculous amount of money?

No only does FFP need to come in but so does a salary cap... how can you justify a teenager earning more in a week than the average person does in 4 years.

But not from football. Why is Man Utd using money from the commercial activities of their parent company better than Man City using money from the commercial activities of their parent company?

One is being clever and marketing in the right way to maximum revenue.
The other is being lucky that some rich man picked a club he'd never heard of and thrown money at them <ok>

Love Pepe, and when you see clips of him with the squad he seems like the life and soul, so would be a huge personality gone if he were to move on but just can't see him staying. Neither him or Mignolet will want to be 2nd choice.

If someone were to offer £12mil+ for him, think we should take it, say thanks for everything you've done and remember the first 4 years where he was one of the top 5 keepers in the World.

Gets him off the wage bill. Or at least part of his wages.

  12. It does but if we are going to move him on then why a loan? Pepe is one of our more valuable assets AND Napoli have just received £55m for Cavani!

Agreed. I don't understand the logic behind a loan move for him. His worth will be highest now as he is 30 years old. Sell him if he isn't going to play? It's not like he's coming back after that? I suppose it is a loan with a clause saying they must buy after a year - if he plays x amount of games. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother getting rid of just to clear some wages.

  14. Hate these loans with a view to buy, clubs always try to get out of them when it comes to coughing up <doh>

Because Valdes is leaving Barca next season, so Reina will want to be the one replacing him. That means he has to leave Liverpool as Mignolet (why would we buy him if he was only a bench player?) is ahead of him and he'll get more exposure at a CL club like Napoli. Moving on a transfer wouldn't be ideal for him because he'd be tied down with a long contract at his new club plus they'd want more money than they paid for him from us, so that means he'd be less attractive to Barca as he'd be more expensive than he would if they were buying straight from us.

Plus he needs regular football to get into the WC 2014 Spain squad and we can't afford to have a sub on 100k+ a week doing on on the bench.

A loan's a ****ing joke (if true). Either stump up now or forget it. As stated above they have the Cavani money and CL footy. One of the best keepers in Europe over the last few seasons and we're going to loan him out? We'll have to get another keeper in as back up if he goes so the savings would be minimal anyway. Makes no sense whatsoever.

  17. Fair points and I understand that view. I guess if that is the case then it reinforces our stance of not needing to sell to buy, let's just hope this is the case and we bring in two or three that will be first teamers <ok>

Maybe Barca, Liverpool and reina have already reached an agreement for his transfer next summer but he needs to be playing in the mean time?

Well if we couldn't afford a bench player on 100k a week why bother signing Ming. Keep Reina for a year and save £9 mill to strengthen where we need to, not a position we already have a player for.

On the subject of two of three first teamers, I still want to know what is happening with Papadopolous & Mkhitaryan? Obviously we aren't signing Mkhitaryan but surely we must have someone else in sight as a marquee attacking signing like he was? And someone to play centre back like Papadopolous? It's gone all quiet on that front hasn't it? I haven't seen a single credible rumour linking us with any attacking player or centre back recently.

Because he might not have been available next summer, with the likes of Arsenal sniffing about?

Last thing we'd need is Reina leaving next summer and everyone knowing we need a new keeper therefore making us pay over the odds for any keeper we went in for. Instead of doing what we usually do and being ****ed over by a player later on in a window (Mascherano, Alonso, Meireles, Torres etc) and scrambling for a replacement and ending up with an expensive flop we've nipped the situation in the bud and got a keeper in early and on our terms. Regardless of what you think of the Reina & Mignolet as players that is to be applauded.

Actually, thinking about it - If Barca and Liverpool have an agreement to replace Valdes with Reina next year then this becomes a brilliant move. But that is just so unlikely on Barca's part that I can't see it.

Napoli will be paying his wages, keeping him fit for a year with match fitness. We have Migs replacing Reina permanently here. We get some money next year for Reina too and keep the younger, hungrier option in Mignolet. The only one that loses out is Napoli, unless they plan on getting a young keeper for next year.
