We can't afford to have a player that is out injured for long periods so buying someone with a record of injuries of not the best tactic to avoid it Plus, we can't afford to have a player that isn't insured (Demba Ba at both Newcastle and Chelsea) on our books either Fair enough, you should have made that clear then! (although I did wonder how us getting Bernard would piss the Geordies off )
Tevez and Balotelli out, Negrado and Jovetic in. Still have four strikers. Jesus Navas will be a great signing for them IMO, they have lacked width for a while IMO. They year they won the league they were able to bring Adam Johnson off the bench to stretch teams they were struggling against, they didn't have that last season.
That really annoyed me too. His interviews during that period as well were ridiculous. Like he genuinely couldn't understand why he wasn't adored. I think he thought (thinks) his performances were of a high enough standard, which they were obviously not.
You're right, I probably should have, but like you said, I mentioned Geordies so it was clear enough for me
It's crazy though, they've spent way more than they've sold, will be even more than 90m if they get Jovetic too. Reckon they'll sell Dzeko too. Aguero, Negredo and maybe Jovetic for striker options isn't too shabby! Add Dzeko to that if he isn't sold and they have very good striker options!

FOOTBALL - DONE DEAL Partick Thistle have signed Liverpool youngster Henoc Mukendi on loan. The 19-year-old will remain at Firhill until at least 1 January, 2014. Mukendi has been part of the Liverpool Academy set-up since 2007 and has progressed through the youth ranks at Anfield. The teenager, who can play as a striker or wide on the left, will be hoping to aid Partick's bid for top flight survival as they prepare for a return to the Scottish Premier League this coming season. The player's loan is subject to international clearance, but if granted in time he will be part of the squad for tomorrow's friendly with Arbroath at Gayfield. - From the BBC feed Never heard of him. Need to watch more youth games I guess!
nothing special IMO. Saw him come in after n'goo wnet on loan but was'nt amazed i have to say. ............... looks like i was right, nothing will be done until we are back from tour. i don't get the split in strategy... rush to fill the squad with the guys we got in then the first team... ah well... whenever?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23369963 coady out on loan to sheff utd. make or break time conor... you need to show the ethic and force this now.... either you become a player now or you go retire.... it is actually that stark. this is his chance to prove himelf more than a reserve. I'd be interested to see where they even play the lad cos he could play RB,CB or CM.
good for him. its an average enough player but as a replacement for the long ball felliani game i guess its possibel he would improve them. small squad there.
Talked about this before. Perhaps it's more practicality than a conscious strategy? It's easier to get young, up and coming players so we've got that in early. Ready made first team players will be tougher. They will maybe delay, weighing up their options to see if a currently "bigger" side comes in for them, and their clubs will try to screw us for as much as they can get. Imo, this is why so many of these negotiations seem to drag on- it's not necessarily because our people are navel gazing. This is also why, for now, we have to get used to the fact that we'll miss a few of our primary targets and may have to build slowly with less sought -after players.
That is certainly a good point and fits mkhitaryan perfectly..... i do think if you want to improve the team you actually need to place a bid. Perhaps the plan is to wait til aug 15 and then bid so teams can hang on for bigger bid, hard deadlines are coming. however torres is another example where it was well known and done earlyish... then rafa had this 10mil in his pocket and scrambled about looking to spend it and ended up with babel. I would have perfered say carroll deal to be 20mil and that 15 burn a hole in our pocket til summer. i just hope to hell we don't panic late on.

That work goes on in order to help us achieve our objectives.” In these days of instant communication there's no reason why it shouldn't. Be nice to get one big name in the bag soon though.
