I think we dither to much on the detail. We probably spend most of the last few weeks haggling over willians value, while Spurs wait, and then Spurs come in and offer the same and willian just choses them. I also don't think 80k a week is enough for him (what we were rumoured to be offering).
So who's next to reject us/get nabbed by another team/sign a contract extension - Damiao? Worth a shot? Eriksen#?
Maybe, but this is speculation. We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but what we do know is that we are seen as a second level team at the moment and that will put us at a disadvantage. Ayre can only sell what he's got, and failure, imo, has far more to do with the perceived status of the club than his ineptitude.
From sky sports live transfer clockwatch - Internacional striker Leandro Damiao says he is happy in Brazil at the current time, despite rumoured interest from Liverpool. The 24-year old, who has previously been linked with Tottenham, Arsenal and Southampton, said: "The first time I was sounded out, I was happy, but I have to overcome that now - I am focused on Internacional - it has to be a good offer for me and the club." by Rob Parrish 12:09 PM
Well the ironic vicious circle is the longer without top players like Willian then the longer we are out of the CL and continue to be deemed a 2nd or even 3rd rate club.
------- Sturridge -------- Aspas - Ford - Suarez ------- Sturridge -------- Willian - Ford - Suarez Is it really that bad?
If the saints can tie up ozvaldo in no time at all what goes on with us? We dither and sod about allowing others to nip in. We laugh at arsenal but its not as though we have bought in any jaw dropping signings. Anyway... Told you so. If cissokho signs that will be it. Don't think these quality signings were ever on the cards
Of course that's the problem. The solution can only be to keep finding players like Coutinho and Sturridge who weren't getting game time and hope they can drag us up a level. I've said all along that I thought those who expected a big-name signing were likely to be disappointed. Where we are at the moment, if we do manage to get a marquee signing, it'll be a bonus- it can't be an expectation. We just ain't pretty enough, for now.
Osvaldo has signed for Southampton because none of the top clubs wanted him. He's had a couple of decent seasons. Nothing to justify a fee of up to £16m.
"There are conversations, and I am hoping in the next few days for an offer from a club like Liverpool,” he [Willian] admitted. “If it is Liverpool, then they are a great club. The news came as a real shock, but I’m calm about it and hoping for the best" He would have joined us though, we ****ed this up by allowing spurs to come sniffing
Think we should buy cabaye really piss gooners off On sky's transfer watch spurs are linked with 3 or more big name signings. They can't all be true
Sorry to keep arguing this, but that's just talk and doesn't mean much. He might have been happy to come to us initially, but may also have his head turned by what he sees as a better offer. Do you really believe our management are so thick that they'd stall on something knowing that someone else can nip in? Because we don't see a blow-by-blow account is no reason to think we weren't fighting. It's frustrating, I agree, but we have to bear in mind the difficulties of attracting an established top player.
THFC have now spent all the Bale money so he is definitely off. Shame since Real are being mugged and he won't have a better season than last.
