We were 7th... right that's with some point improvement over the last time so: minger in reina out is at best a straight swap. I really beleive reina was back to his best from january on. However he cost us some points earlier Alberto in shelvey out: an improvement? probably but a squad one. Aspas in: thus far only carroll out: has to be an improvement in options as carroll was not wanted or played. Issue is is he good enough? one game he looks good the other gash. Toure in Carra out: thus far the guy looks ok, at least quicker but not much more. skertl on the bench for this. result: direct swaps mean the squads not improved over januaray. However: Everton have a new manager and best players could end up promoted form utd reserves to utd firsts along with old manager and team. ergo 6th is certainly on Arsenal have no new players but sold no one important (gervinho ... so far... result they got 70 + so there's no reason to think they can't go do this again. Tottenham have strengthened and are in year two of AVB. bale out for currently two guys in is serious for a one man team but they've still a serious side and their signings are top 4 all day. Utd: no signings, manager up form reserves, all the team's changed in the back room and they are after reserves of theirs not top 4 players. Rooney is openly defiant. Result? quality is stil lthere but who knows what will happen Chelsea/City: may as well lump the billionaires together as the same line suffices... serious spend, serious quality, serious title tilts. Result: 6th is possible. It'll take utd to utterly fall apart IMO for LFC to senak 4th cos i feel tottenham have what it takes So: Hope 1: January to may form: coutinho and sturridge. These are the two genuine improvements to our side. Reina cut out the errors.... Hope 2: bit more pace at the back. sorry carra but flaming nora you were a bit of a liability. Hope 3: Luck. gerrard and agger are now totally key. injuries i nthe previous years seemed certain. We need them fit Hope 4: lucas fit? Result: LFC do have the chance now to pick up where they left off with the form. Sturridge, coutinho, lucas, gerrard, agger ,enrique, johnson. I would have hoped to supplement with actual quality, not downing, allen and toure and would have hoped suarez would be a bit professional in it to boot. However right now all we can say is that the window aint shut. Downing might yet do and the other two will just have to do. In one way rodgers is right about more options up front but in another he's making a big mistake. the quality at the back aint great and the midfield is shaky.
IF that is true why the **** did we waste our time playing him the other day against Celtic, what was to be gained by that?
quids in then how much you reckon ... snigger... carrick is worth? 5p I hope he goes and does really really well... as in gets an assist before christmas.
celebrating selling someone is not so good.... is it really. I hope we never see the like again. Being totally indifferent to someone going (shelvey) is ok, being angry (suarez) is fine but being happy to see the back of someone? not good. thanks comolli... even thanks kenny, yuo should NOT have done that deal, Rodgers just lost what 40mil there... talk about wasters. FSG were right to hand down the sack, wrong to fly a guy across the atlantic to do it though.
May be some add-ons but we were always going to have to take a financial hit after paying £20m for him. BR obviously see's Downings, ahem, limitations and knows we must offer more in that position.
So Carroll and Downing gone for a combined 21£m. I'm happy with that. I think Downing represents the last of the true crap that has seeped into our club over the last few years
Yeah, agree with that.Downings 29 so he's not going to improve as a footballer and his value will only decrease over the next year or two, ship him out. Wage bill improved also.
Oh no, Downing and Carroll together. West Ham will win the league! I actually think they will do well for West Ham. Or do well by West Ham's standards.
debatable, what if he got injured, then we would have been lumbered with the twat playing in a game he didn't need to really. if he leaves which looks likely, what was the point playing him as he isnt going to be starting Sat is he, that's my point, waste of ruddy time, which should have been given to Ibe, as it must have been decided a while ago as i doubt they work Sundays lol and today he is having a medical.
You know he is gonna have a blinding game when we play West Ham this year if the deal goes through. Just to wind us up even more.
Coates...? I feel the need to point out that I was joking I suspect we won't be cutting all the strings, I willing to bet we end up paying part of his wages for the remaining length of his LFC contract! I can see them linking up well at West Ham. Lower expectations and demands on style etc
