Like always The Echo only prints the negative comments...........Why print something that one fan has written as if he represented all our views. It is no wonder their readership is slipping so fast. Their sales of the pink I'm told has halved in the last three years......never mind.........
Think it's day's must be numbered. Paper sales generally are through the floor as the people access news in real-time. I have happy memories though of getting the train back to Winchester after a home match and eagerly waiting the Pink delivery for an early match report!
I used to love The Pink as it was the only way of finding out about Saints. A group of us would be hanging round the paper shop on a Saturday evening waiting for the delivery. I was once on a ferry coming back from the match with a stack of them next to me...how they printed the match report that quickly was a mystery to me. I would have carried on reading it, especially in the last two great seasons, but they stopped delivering on a Saturday to the Island. You have to wait till Monday now. We can get so much info now from the internet.
Well that's just extraordinary! What on earth are the editors doing? I'm not sure what the opposite of journalism is but that "article" is a graphic illustration of what it looks like in action.
I worked for many years for a company that never, ever, under any circumstances, responded to requests for comments from the press. The reason? They said something along the lines of ,"If the normal response of the company is to comment, then even a 'no comment' may be taken to have meaning and may well be misunderstood. In light of that, our policy is never to respond" I happen to agree and I think it's wise of Saints to do so, especially to a rag like the DE.
Most major successful companies use the media to inform their customers , I can only assume you are an undertaker .
Bye bye 'the southampton way' then and in with the defend defend counter 5 at the back none up front.
What is the Southampton way ? I have heard of United and their wingers , Liverpool pass and move , the West Ham way but Southampton ? No , arrogant propaganda and the thing is if it does exist it sure as **** is not working .
I see the Echo have now put up a 98 word article pointing out that oh, look at that, 78% of Echo visitors want Nigel to stay. And that includes the miserable moany ones. Looks like they are a fair, balanced and honourable newspaper after all. No Mr Leitch, the damage is done.
