I actually don't think that it'll stay Sports Direct Arena.

At first I did but when Lamb-arse mentioned shirt sponsorship, I thought that they'd never put Sports Direct on the shirts as they'd never sell.

Definitely do think so as they know they've still got enough money from player sales to invest into the team. Also , note that they said they were looking for a sponsor a year ago when they named it sportsdirect.com@StJames'Park.

We don't need any money even though lambiarse said that we do. We're in one of the best financial positions in the league and have got enough money.

I'm not enraged by the news, we were already aware they were willing to trample on this bit of Newcastle United history. Again they have shown a willingness to lie/deceive as I was under the impression they suggested the name St James Park would always be retained? They are all about money and dangling the "if we don't get this revenue stream we can't compete with the big boys" carrot as a way of appeasing fans is a bit insulting. But all in all I couldn't care as I already knew what these guys were, it'll always be St James, and hopefully someone with a bit of sense in the future will change it back. This kind of thing is commonplace in football afterall as money men don't understand heritage and have been selling the soul of the english game since the early 90's.

I'm willing to bet my house and my family on it being Sports Direct.

    Let's make it more interesting.

If it's still called Sports Direct Arena by February, I'll put this as my profile picture...

    and vice versa of course.

I think the only reason it'll stay with that name is if no one is interested in buying naming rights.

Well we will see soon enough whether the stadium will get renamed; Llambias said the shirt sponsor needs sorting out by end of December and I reckon that if there is not a double deal for the shirt and stadium sponsorship then the stadium will just stay as Sports Direct Arena.

As concerns grow about the renaming of the former St James Park, disgruntled fans start to gather outside the stadium to protest.

The thing is, they will. Kids will still want Toon shirts for their birthdays and xmas presents. My first neice/nephew is on the way in February and I'll be buying them a Toon shirt every year regardless. And honestly, I couldn't tell you a year I haven't owned one of our shirts?

Sports Direct is an ugly sponsor, but we'll buy it regardless...

Got loads of shirts from way back but I wouldn't buy one with Sports Direct on.
