assuming they perform to expectation, a lallana with shooting and (edit: said crossing meant set piece) set piece ability plus a younger more mobile player than lambert could well be an improvement. we'd lose lambert's impressive range of passing but every season we bemoan his reduced mobility and look towards replacing him.
For me lambert is finished in terms of what he could offer us, wonderful player for us but a decent striker would be a vast improvement on his 2nd half of last season. Lambert may have a last hurrah at Liverpool being a bench player starting less games may suit him for another year or he may now fade away. Lallana is an amazing talent BUT end product is poor always has been. Our big strength is the engine room if that stays we may well be stronger.
If we can get a player like Blind in then I would agree that we probably have stayed even if not improved on Lambert, Lallana and Shaw. Shaw will be irreplaceable down the line but right now we can sign someone of his current ability if not slightly higher and get the benefit from that.
Jan Kluitenberg on Twitter: "@GPelle9 welkome to @SouthamptonFC Worked with you at @Feyenoord Great player and people will love you. Show your skills."
I was going to say that when I read above that he would need to lose the hair oil. I thought Fonte gets away with it and they do look similar.
