Sorry, my mistake - It was Chariots of the Gods Haven't read the others. But I was very much into Carl Sagans work around the same time
A bit harsh Angelic, true they do not always get it right even the most profound and some who purport to either category often err. I mean take ICKE an expert in his field ????? ...... uuuuuum but what is is field? has a few minions following his every word but most of the real experts and scientists would say his tea set is short of a few items .. like cups and a teapot!
I've said before, I keep an open mind.....I listen to views and opinions and then make my own mind up of what I believe...
I didn't say Icke was an expert or a scientist, but it's hard to disagree with some of his views on things. I'm referring to stuff like when we all told that smoking was good for you, and ditto Guinness. We were told wine was bad for us, then it got reversed, that butter was awful stuff and should be avoided and then came the U turn. Red meats, cheese, processed foods, dairy products etc etc More recently we were told categorically by the WHO and other people in the big pharmaceutical companies who may have been being paid to defend China that there was absolutely no way that Covid came from a lab leak in Wuhan, but now the FBI are saying it probably did. The Bank of England and the money experts also make statements that turn out to the opposite of what actually happens, and these people most certainly don't have their fingers on the national pulse. And with AI becoming more frequently used, at some point very soon, it's going to be absolutely impossible to know if anyone is telling the truth, ever !
Icke contends that the universe consists of "vibrational" energy and infinite dimensions sharing the same space. He claims that there is an inter-dimensional race of reptilian beings, the Archons or Anunnaki, which have hijacked the Earth. If we could tap in to 'Vibrational' energy we wouldn't need gas or electric, problem solved.
Here’s my theory- for what it’s worth. Pumping poisonous gases into the atmosphere which we need to breathe is probably not a good thing - especially when the rainforests which the planet needs in order to absorb the poisons and produce oxygen are being destroyed on an industrial scale at the same time. So, it’s good IMHO that we are looking for alternatives. HOWEVER - those alternatives need to be realistically viable and genuinely better than the current energy sources. I’m not convinced that they are. For example, I read somewhere that the environmental pollution created by manufacturing an electric vehicle was the equivalent of running a 2.0L Diesel engine continuously for several years. Also, the batteries in those things don’t last very long and will need replacing every few years, whereas the trusty diesel engine will go on and on. I’m not rushing out to buy an electric or hybrid car any time soon. I’ll stick with my diesel - which with regular servicing and careful driving is likely to serve me well for the next 10+ years. On health, I see now that the ‘experts’ are finally waking up to something that I predicted years ago; that longevity in this country has already peaked and is on the decline. The current population who are in their 70s-90s are probably going to be the last generation of ‘healthy’ oldies. They were brought up on a restricted diet caused by wartime rationing and that gave their bodies a healthier start in life. Their recreations included playing sports, climbing trees and other physical activities. By contrast, today’s youngsters grow up on a diet of McDonald’s and other fast, processed foods, sweet fizzy drinks and unlimited confectionary. Many are already overweight or even obese by the time they reach adulthood and get little or no physical exercise. Add to this, most jobs these days involve being sat at a desk on a computer, rather than physical labour so people are sat on their @rses for most of the waking day. Fast-forward 20 years and our life expectancy will not just dip, it will plummet. Sorry to sound so negative but that’s what I’ve believed for the past 15-20 years and it’s starting to come true. Thank God I was born in the 1960s………
Yes, some of what he said in the past is wacky and contentious...but if I would have said to you 40 years ago, we'd be walking around with mobile devices ordering goods etc being caught up in Artificial Intelligence and just come out of a so say global pandemic, you'd think I was on the magic mushrooms!!
All very good, but a there was a lot of unhealthy fatties back then not playing sport. We’ve got this rose tinted view that most of kids are not like us, so they are lazy. Still hard manual jobs going, buildings don’t get build from behind a desk. Factories have some robots doing work but there are still loads of people on production lines. Back then there was very few if any of my friends and family went to the gym. Go there now and it’s full of late teens, twenties and upwards.
Agreed ! Jobs before the war and for the 30 odd years after it were largely in manufacturing, agriculture, and engineering (at least for the men). But all of our historic industries were either sold, lost out to foreign competition or went bust, such as virtually the whole of the British car industry and all the great names from the past like Humber, Singer, Sunbeam etc. What happened to British Leyland is another matter ! Mining the precious metals such as Lithium and Cobalt for electric car batteries in places like Afghanistan and the Congo is a dirty and poisonous job. And of course is done by some of the very poorest, least educated people on earth with no consideration for their well being, and all in the name of worthy progress ! If you have an electric car and it needs a new battery which isn't covered by warranty, you are looking at a bill well in excess of £12k. I gave up my automatic Mondeo Ghia diesel 2.0 with 125k on it (and it was still a lovely drive) nearly 3 years ago when all the talk of being penalised for driving diesels in Bristol got louder and louder. I save a few quid on car tax by now having a petrol Focus, and the price of diesel fuel is considerably higher than petrol. But the irony is I barely drive my newer car these days and it's nothing like as economical (I get around just 22.8 MPG around town) and not as comfortable either, or as well built ! I go into the office in the centre of Bristol one day a week and I take the bus, as it would be ridiculously expensive to park, and I can have a couple of beers at lunchtime if I please. Which I often do. Our modern and Americanised diet is very very poor. Seems to me that fewer people want to, or even can cook for themselves, and would rather buy a ready meal or have a takeaway. Just more illustrations of how our traditional way of life and with it the British/English culture has been diluted over the last few decades. This is also reflected in many other respects, such as the current gender ideology nonsense.
he is the leading individual so has to be the expert .. when ANYONE MAKES MAKES A STATEMENT about any subject then they deemed an expert/[ more knowledgeable ] unless they say I am not an expert ... but.... ... then no one takes notice or listens anyway! Off for the day now dodging the showers on a 5 mile hike to the edge of darknes ... well dusk to most ....
