He hasn't had amazingly long spells at his previous clubs but who does these days. No matter how long he maybe with us he feels like the right appointment at the right time. With his contacts and respect and knowledge of the game I feel he could consolidate us as a top eight club, if not better. A top name as a player doesn't always make a great manager but with Koeman you get that. I vote for red and orange stripe kit next season to match our bright attacking football
What, a Mirror article about Saints that doesn't use the words "meltdown" and "asset stripping"?... That is a well adjusted and written, informative piece of journalism, I like the cut of Ron's jib.....I wonder what's happened to our old friend Alan Nixon?, I do hope it's terminal.
New First Team Coach - Jan Kluitenberg: "Just signed for three years at Southampton FC with Koeman brothers. As of now a Saint *smiley face with halo above it*"
I can definately see me warming to Ron in a way that I never could do with Poch, he seems an avuncular and genial character and appears to be genuinely happy to be here.
Well done on finding potentially a good manager, especially after you had Europe's top managers knocking on your door, must have been difficult deciding on which one to employ and before I get insulted, called a spud and told to **** off!......I'm being facetious. I have a lot of time for saints and hope to see you finish top 8 again. Now you can tell me to **** off!
If people wondered about some player reaction... Artur Boruc, José Fonte, Jos Hooiveld and James Ward-Prowse have all liked the photo of Koeman posted by the club on Instagram. Morgan Schneiderlin and Sam Gallagher both following him on Twitter.
Incredible to think that it has only been 18 days since Pochettino left. What an unbelievably uncomfortable and lengthy 18 days!! Great choice and I think it confirms that the board is serious in its aspirations. All aboard the Saints express! In particular, this means I can enjoy the World Cup without foreboding- other than the usual when England are playing.
Welcome Saint Ron. The figures below (apart from Valencia but nobody is perfect) are certainly making me excited about being a Saints supporter again! Win % Vitesse 50.63 Ajax 65.25 Benfica 55.10 PSV 61.90 Valencia 32.35 AZ Alkmaar 45.83 Feyenoord 57.02 Poch: 35.2
Oddriveroaks apologies didn't mean to offend it was just reference to the spitting image sketch from the 80's.

I think the last two Dutch coaches were good. Their problem was playing with the worst set of players we have ever had. Even so, they managed to play some excellent football (obviously undone by the fact that the team could neither defend or score). Great appointment, it must surely make our 'want-aways' have a re-think.
Wasn't offended, just thought it was a bit of a generalisation - you will have to forgive me for my lack of knowledge about spitting image - before my time, sorry!
All of a sudden, I feel less suicidal! My manic depression has been replaced with mild optimism. Even the most big-headed of saints player can't fail to be impressed by this appointment. We just have to hope and pray that it gels and works well.
I think that Koeman is a bigger risk than we would like to admit and he is going to have to deal with high expectations. He seems a great fit but hopefully will be given time if things do not go as planned. Seems affable and maybe not as shrewd as Pochettino but someone who will win loyalty. Let's hope it works out but we have been so lucky with the last three appointments it surely cannot get better can it...
